list updated! We will definitely be showing more pictures and information of the final product, I wouldn't worry about any gaps on early releases..

that pic is a pre release unit and keep in mind the "console" portion and how the unit fits into it are not mated down together in the pic, but rather its loose just for a photo.

Yeah! a rachet type shifter would be my choice.
with these new "shift by wire" shift boxes, ratchet type shifters are a thing of the past. They are all shiftted by switches and wires, rather than a cable operated assembly so you won't be able to have that style of shifter. You can however put the new B&M paddle shifter on your car in place of the tap shift and run it by itself with the stock shifter or use it in conjunction with the Hurst auto shifter console

I think what he was referring to is like what is in the Pontiac G8's. If someone makes something like this for the Camaro I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But the + and - should be reversed, my natural motion is to pull back to shift up a gear and push forward to downshift a gear... am I odd?

For reference purposes:

The letters do light up on the console.

Was told at SEMA that there is already a plug provision in the console that they used.

Also, Hurst said they are working on a shifter that will have buttons up on the top and front of the handle. No idea of when they might have that one ready, they are still working on prototype.

As stated, I would not equate fitment on a display, to be the same in the car. Maybe that's where the dust bunnies and debris goes!

Trigger on front of this unit is the release.

thats what we need, and like you said reverse it for the tap shift or ratchet shift in manual, and its not odd alot of ratchet shifers in drag cars are reversed.
