Started looking into this recently.

After owning a 2011SS I realize it was pointless to pay the extra cost of admission to get a V8 car. When at the end I had replaced the suspension, rear end, trans, and motor..

Been paying more attention to the cars again as I like the new body style.

I keep thinking getting a used 2014rs v6 car would be nice, and build it up into exactly what I want it to be.. And save about 10k compared to starting with an SS??

It would be infinitely cheaper to sell your car, and buy an SS, than to buy all the parts you need to drop it into a V6 car. Just a wild ass guess, but I bet you would be close to $10k between engine/transmission/rear end to swap everything over, not to mention the immense amount of your time it would take.

Would probably be better to go the forced induction route, or maybe even a nitrous system if you only want more power from time to time.

TBH don't listen to what anyone says but yourself. My opinion is if u want more power go for an engine swap. LFX454 probably the best deal. people are saying get twins or superchargers but that's only gonna get you to like 450-500 hp. and that's the limit. get a 454 and keep it stock until u want like 1200 hp lol.

Overkill supercharger set up. Dyno 440 rwhp. Stock L-99, appx. 325 RWHP. LS3- appx. 360RWHP. It lists for 6499.00. Much simpler than a motor swap

But pushing so much power out of the v6 can deff hurt the engine. over heating probs and much more. lets say you wanted more power and less stress on the motor ? could you do it ? prob not. some people like more power naturally aspirated with a v8 rumble. lest be honest the v6 Camaro 5th gen is amazing and it has power but the fact that its almost 3800 pounds its pretty slow. its got a good engine but for its weight its alright . finally the came out with the 6th gen 3520 pounds but for the 6th gen v6 they should have put in a mini turbo. make it at least like 310-330 rwhp. 12 grand for a lsx454. naturally aspirated with 627 hp. chevy will install it for 127 dollars an hour and they told me about 18 hours so which is a little less than 2.5k

For a ~15k upgrade, would it not make sense to just get a 2SS? 426hp for $25k. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the v8 engines seem to be able to handle forced induction applications pretty well, and this is assuming going straight to a ZL1 with a stock supercharger would be more expensive than the 454 swap you're recommending.

were talking about a used ss Camaro (ls3) with 360rwhp that might just blow up on you next time you start it. rather than a brand new car for 24-30k with like 570 rwhp

don't forget the 5k for the tranny plus install, and a ZL1 rear end plus install, as well as bigger brakes and a better fuel pump.

if I were converting a v6 to v8 I would go to a salvage yard find a totaled ss or zl1 buy the car swap everything needed out then resell the salvage car probably would be the best way
but that's my opinion
let me know how you come out
