hood pins (after market hood)

Well, i have my ram air hood from suncoast (fiberglass) and i was pondering putting hood pins on it. 50/50 for safety and for aesthetic appeal.

i havn't seen any on 5th gens yet and curious what everyone thinks?

**constructive comments only please** (i know not every, if not anyone, likes them. but if u don't, just be civil)

((I finally hit 1000 posts! lol!))

Go for it. The best hood pins are the Ford SVT style ones a lil pricey but all stainless. The cheap ones are just.....cheap.

I have a '90 Camaro RS w/Harwood fiberglass cowl induction hood. When trucks, etc passed by me i could see the hood flexing so i installed stainless hood pins. They mount thru the radiator support. They should look fine on the car.If i ever install a new glass hood on my '10 it would most likely get pins as well.....not for looks but for piece of mind/safety.

If I remember the top plates are shiftable so you can get the hood to close perfect without scraping the pins. You just loosen the screws and the plate has a couple mm of movement. And they are bidder than those crappy Proform ones.

Unless its a pin on hood or you removed the latch its screams "look guys I have a race car too". IMO, dont trample me guys.

stock latch would not be used, i'd take out all the original components because then its just excessive

save a lil bit of weight haha

This has always been a problem with hood-pin only hoods. I would honestly say keep the stock latch as well. Not just because someone could raise your hood, but should they snip the cables and remove the pins, you're left with NOTHING but weight holding your hood down.
