cigarette lighter location...

obviously this is not going to be used to light up a cig... who would want there beautiful new camaro to smell like ?

but... like many others, i have a radar detector. Is the only adapter in the center console? that is the only place I have seen it so far. Is there not one on the dash somewhere like most cars?

it would just be really annoying if the only place it came from was the center console. I don't want a stupid cord going from the center console to my windshield...

They should be putting them in the A pillar by now. Drives me nuts! Or at least have a cavity in the dash wehere you can hide the cables or plug them in.

As much as I would hate to say it, I think there is only one. But I am not 100% certain on that.

i recently got a passport escort 9500ix... its freakin awesome... tells me where red light cameras are and learns false signals. I guess there could be a way to wire it into the headliner, the only problem is that the plug in part has a mute button, which is really convenient and keeps you from leaning all the way up to the dash to mute...

There are two power plugs, one is just in front of the shifter and one is inside the center storage, seems to me you could make a decent looking split off the onstar power with just a little work to really reduce the clutter though.

can have that controller ran to a nice spot that is close to you (probably closer than the cigarette lighter version) .

Yes actually i think it is because the "launch control" isn't a specific button, it's the traction control button pressed twice that enables launch control and that button is next to what you circled so i think what you circled is it, bcuz it looks like it has a latch

Yes that's a power plug, I believe that to the left of the power is the traction control button and that's what ucla is thinking of. There are pics around that show this more clearly, you might check the Indy pic threads if you want a better look as I'm fairly sure someone got pics of both plugs, just keep in mind those were preproduction interiors and some little things don't look quite right.

I have the 9500 Escort as well. Great detector.

I do suggest to everyone to direct wire their detector. If you are technically savy, I'm sure there is a 12v acc power somewhere in the overhead console (especially if you get the moonroof). Or you can run the wire tucked up in the headliner, down either A-pillar, under the dash, and into the 12v outlet in the center console next to the traction control switch.

If you're not as technically inclined, I would still recomend having someone do it for you. A direct wired detector has a clean look and obviously turns off and on when you start the car and shut it off.

but nobody would leave it up on the window when not in the car right ?
