2002 SS SLP airlid with K&N filter?

I'm getting ready to order my Father's day present, which is going to be a SLP air lid to replace the stock lid on my 2002 SS. I'm only going to be doing the lid at this time, not the full air box/ cold air kit with a new MAF sensor and all that. It's just going to be the lid for now.

The previous (first) owner of my car had already replaced the stock air filter with a K&N air filter, which is something I would have done anyway. Is a K&N filter compatible with an SLP lid? It seems to me that it should be since the filter goes down in the airbox and not up in the lid, but I figured that I would ask before I ordered the new part. I know that SLP does market their own high flow air filter (Nightwing? Blackwing? Something like that) but I'd just as soon keep the part I already have since it has less than 3000 miles on it and I can just clean it up if need be.

Thanks.

the K&N filter will work fine since the SLP lid goes on the stock airbox and the K&N filter was made to fit the stock airbox. I have the SLP lid on my 02 TA, looks soooo much nicer then stock. also, they sell the SLP lid w/K&N filter as a package so yea, no doubt it will work.

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately the stereo head unit went out in my pickup this morning, so it looks like I'm getting a new stereo for father's day instead. The airbox lid will have to wait.

It's always something, isn't it?

Yeah. It's actually just the tape deck, but that's what I use to play my XM receiver and my MP3 player in the truck. It was actually the second used OEM tape deck I had stuck in it. I bought it six months ago from junk yard. What should I expect for $20, right?

I bought a decent aftermarket receiver with an AUX port, USB drive, and SD card slot. Works great.
