removable of bowtie on rear trunk lid

Does anyone know how to remove the bowtie on the rear of the trunk lid? Does it have studs or is it just 3M? It is hard to tell if there is 3M under it or not.

Yep, I took off the chicklets too and they were easy to tell that they are held on by 3M. The fishline does work very well for removal.

Anyone else take the rear bowtie off?

It's held in place with 3M but there are two holes in the trunk lid used for alignment of the bowtie.

I just got my new bowties and I haven't removed it yet. I see the holes behind the emblem, but I don't think it is 3M. It looks like I need to remove the latch in order to get to it. I think it is put in place with 2 plastic pieces put into the holes. I am going to try it out and get back to ya! The front bowtie popped right out easily.

Nope, definitely 3M tape. The holes are there for alignment. Be VERY CAREFUL when removing the rear bowtie. I not have a bit of a scratch on the bumper that needs to be repaired.

There is 3m on there but also two stud post that feed into those holes that people are not stating very clearly...I found it to be difficult to work around those because also surronded by 3m. Be careful I made some small dents in my with the corners when pulling up and had to have them repaired

I removed mine yesterday without a problem. I used a thin wire, but heated up the emblem with a blow dryer. When I got to the pins, I stopped and pulled out a bit to get some space between the emblem and the trunk. I did that on both sides, reheated the center, and it got soft enough to pull right out.
Anyone know if removing the padding on the trunk would allow access to the holes from inside the trunk???

I did that thinking you could access it. NO JOY and a big waste of time.

There are two openings on each side of the trunk lock but not big enough to get your hand into.

Here's a cheesy DIY I made to see if you have holes or not, the pics show what it looks like with the padding off.
