Shaking, swaying at freeway speeds

I haven't taken my car out on the freeway too often (I'm only around 400 miles). But the two or three times I've been cruising on the freeway lately, I've noticed a shaking or swaying around 55 to 75 mph. I haven't driven faster than that. I'm worried, because I haven't read anything about this on this forum. And it doesn't feel like wheel balance.

Could it be an alignment issue? It would be sad if my car came delivered from the factory out of alignment.

If your car is shaking, you either have a tire that is separated or 1 or more tires that are out of balance.. An alignment will not cause your car to shake..

Separated tire? Sounds like I would know about that. I'm pretty sure nothing is separated. And it's not the wind. It's happened on separate occasions with different types of weather. All in California where the weather isn't severe at all.

It looks like I'll have to take my car back to the dealer and ask them to do the wheel balance and alignment. Thanks.

Have them look over the whole suspension, too. It sounds like the did a poor pre-delivery check of your car.

There is actually a TSB for this issue.

Mine was my Pirelli scorpion ice and snow tires, and being a little out of balance.

Really? What was wrong with the tires? Just the balance? Or something bigger.

In my case, I was a bit out of balance, and the Pirelli scorpion ice and snow due to the tread makes a little vibration. It was a lot better once I left the dealer though.

That is a good observation. With the summer tires I felt a slight vibration this weekend on I96 and thought I might need to get the summer tires re-balanced. It turns out, it was the right lane that was doing it.

I moved into the left lane and it stopped doing it.

I then remained in the right lane. Good thing, as the idiots were following too close in the left lane, and there was a 3 car accident a little later.

Whoa. Glad that worked out for you.

It happened on multiple freeways. So I don't think it was a lane thing.
