Seemed like there was a better selection of rifles at the one I went to than handguns.

That's such a cool looking rifle. Nice!

While waiting for my Ruger P85 to get sent back to me from out of state, I picked up this HK VP40

It seems when most folks talk about what was good or bad at a show, they mean handguns, and if they mean rifles too, they usually mean ARs.

Not necessarily, I do plan on picking up a rifle at some point. There were a lot of Ruger American Rifles and nice ARs there that I felt were decent enough to buy.

I drooled over a bunch of guns, rifles and scopes, etc. I just didn't see the pricing all that great. I saw some nice bulk reloaded ammo for a pretty sweet price.

You'd be surprised at how much fun a nice Remington or Smith-Corona M1903A3 is. Strong action, very much a significant rifle, popular cartridge, and can be quite accurate.

1903 or M40a1, can't go wrong with either. Handguns look at purpose built Caspian based 1911s and hicaps like the new style CZ75 variants. Polymer is not my preference, including ARs. It's rare to find quality wrapped in plastic yes I know. They are reliable...

My 03a3 and M1 Garand are my favorite rifles.

I was thinking about getting an M&P15-22 just to learn the ins and outs of an AR for now.

One thing I don't understand (as I didn't grow up around guns and really don't shoot a lot of rifles) is why .22lr rifles all have such small magazines. I'd love to use a .22 for plinking but reloading so much is a pain.

Really not worth it IMO. Its a seriously over priced Ruger 10/22. Just save up couple more bucks and get a AR15 or if you really want an AR10
