Where I used to work we had a robot in our shuttle install the steering wheel. It went berserk intermittently over a period of days and before we could figure it out it broke a few steering columns. On those cars the column would drop to the floor if you took 2 bolts out of a carrier below the dash. The bolts were breaking in the case of the crazy robot. Not sure if it's the same design but that's my first guess

Its getting brought to the dealer either today or tomorrow. I have no more pics of the dash but i will try to take more tomorrow. I was stopped at the red light and a lady wasnt paying attention and hit me doing around 60. She barley slowed down. I know this because i watched it happen.
