I love my 2014 Z/28. I plan on keeping it forever and handing it down to my son. As others have said, it is not a luxury or comfort based cruising vehicle. It is a hammer. You will always be able to find an SS or ZLI, but eventually availability will dry up on Z/28s. I am of the opinion the future of the 2014/2015 Z/28 will be similar to that of the 1970 Plymouth Superbird. 2,000 or so built for a specific racing purpose, new sales trailed off with cars being available two years after model year and today they sell in the neighborhood of $150k based on options.

I bought mine just over 2 years ago when it first came out and got it at the GM employee price with a little bit in rebates and don't regret paying that much at all. I cross shopped it with quite a few other cars in the $80k range and couldn't find anything that had the personality or bat shit insanity this car is. When I was at the track a couple weeks ago there was a ton of GT3s there, and while they are beautiful cars they simply don't have the wow factor of a Z/28, I love my car and don't ever plan on getting rid of it. It does get constant attention, rides like a 1980's 1 ton truck, but damn is it fun to drive and makes absolutely beautiful music with the LS7.
There will never be a car like this one ever again, everything is becoming so electronically controlled with high tech equipment in the cars. Just look at the new 1LE and ZL1... mag ride, e-diff, direct injection, VVT, active fuel management and on and on. |

I'm going through a similar dilemma. I've had my Camaro since 97, done a lot of track mods and track days. Mostly worried that a '17 1LE will be faster with less sacrifice to comfort and cruising comfort, and cheaper. The wow factor is definitely diminished if you are throwing pass signals to the gen 6 Camaro. And then there is the worry that the '18 Z/28 will be in another league. Think of the C4 ZR1 vs the C5 Z06. Not much wow factor left for the 4 cam 32v V8 after the next gen king came out.

We are heavy into the car show scene and had a 2016 Stingray that was customized but there are LOTS of them. Our Z28 is wicked fast, has a menacing personality and is rare. In fact it is unusual to see another one on the street. To drive it is to time travel back to the muscle car era. For us it is perfect. Just get one with AC, possibly change tires, and you will be happy that you made the move. Frankly, we are delighted.

Awesome, thank you guys for the thoughts and comments! This is exactly the insights I was hoping for, and appreciate.
Went this morning and picked up my cashier's check for my deposit from the bank, and have an appointment this evening to buy the Z/28 - my hope is all checks out and I'll be a new owner in a few hours! |

I have 2014 Z/28 #83, I paid full price when I bought it 2 years ago, Never regretted it at all.
I have had it at the track 5 times, The car is way above my skill level, I took it to the drags twice, I did the Mojave Magnum with it, 169 mph in 1-1/2 miles I did the Silverstate Classic in Ely Nevada last year and will be doing it again in September. the point is all this racing on a factory stock car. How could you go wrong? I still draws a crowd no matter where you go. I have 11,500 miles on mine with no trouble, My advice would be to put on clear wrap asap, the tires are sticky and throw shit everywhere |

For the curious, made it through with only a processing fee "surprise" but so far so good. Funny already met the real car guys at the dealership to come out and talk "shop."
Might actually be on the road by 9pm tonight. |

Awesome and huge congrats. You are going to love it!! Btw, just today I had a guy in a 6th gen Camaro SS flag me down to tell me how much he loved my car. I had it out all day today and, as usual, it received a lot of attention and I can't wait to get her out again tomorrow! Keep us posted!
