CATS

So tell me how many guys haven't melted their cats with a supercharger? I had a chance to go to a test and tune today(1/4 mile) and I was somewhat paranoid about my cats blowing the motor. My tune hasn't disabled the COT. I just haven't got around to gutting them.

I had some high flow...can't remember the name but came from Jannetty. They were shot at 6000 miles of blown use. I was over 650 for most of that time but was 575 for the first couple thousand, and they seemed fine then.

So what are you guys with emissions doing? Tuning the car without cats? Then putting cats on the car to emissions test then removing them again?

Yep, I have a set in the attic for that purpose. If you can some states have a show car exemption.

see I was going to hollow them out also but didnt think they would pass here in denver without the cats doing what they do to to reduce the emission. Guess its different everywhere.

in California and Colorado they do more than a visual inspection..
all they have to do is use an infrared temp on the cat housing and they will know in about 1 second if you actually have a cat or a shell..
just a thought.. I am sure other states do this as well..

Took cats off. NJ does not visually check. To pass inspection you just can't be throwing any CELs. Cats and boost is no bueno.

Not, COT is for Protecting the Cats, it adds fuel to cool the cats when they get hot.

I talked about this at great length in the Check your Cats Thread.

Many times the fuel pump and injectors are too small to support the Supercharger and COT fueling together, so not enough fuel to cool the cats.

Ted.
