where to sell catalytic converters?
I know people will pay money for these. I just don't know who.
I will be installing LTs w/ HF cats. What are you guys doing with your used cats?

You can sell them on the members classifieds board.
Why would you, I don't know. Personally I'm keeping everything that comes off my car that is stock. |

It's a big deal down here in NM. The local UPullIt yard is always full of effers with wheel burrow full of cats that they cut off and buy to turn around and sell. Just a guess as to why the OP wants to do it. Ivan |

For the relatively small amount you will get for them you might consider keeping them just in case you have a need for your warranty should something happen. Just a thought.

Gotta be someone around who buys them...scrap-metal yards maybe? Every once in a while, there's reports of them getting stolen...so they gotta be worth something.

The only places I've seen buy used factory cats to use is repair shops in which the old ones need replacing and the customer wants them replaced as cheap as possible. Most of the time they buy them for $25-$35 per cat. |

Different states have different laws about the sale of cats (not the pets) ...
Take it from a guy in the auto wrecking and scrap-metal business ... here in CA we are only allowed to sell used cats to a licensed core-buyer or rebuilder and can never sell one over the counter to the public. My suggestion is ask your local muffler shop who buys them ... they R&R them all the time, so they must have a contact to sell to. And price will ultimately be determined by the size ... but the days when they were worth BIG $$ are behind us ... I seriously doubt they are worth $100 each ... Then there's always Craigs List .... |

I know that there will be doubters... but I myself am an optimist and will find a good price for mine. Pesimism is blindness.

got some new info from Midsouth...
We need to find out if these are considered "Pre" cats (like on a mustang). If so, they are worth ~$20-$25. Large standard cats are worth $70-100. Does anyone know what type of cats these are? I would guess that "Pre" sounds right, because these babies are not huge jugs like on some trucks.
