On the lighter side - perhaps it's the mohawk being blown out the rear from all that power!

Is it just me or does the inside tailpipe seem to be the one blowing insulation. I wonder if it has to do with the exhaust flap changing heat or pressure? It will be interesting to hear what the culprit was. This seems to be more apparent now with more people looking for it. If it happens to me I won't care. It will be covered by warranty. After the warranty is up then upgrade to SLP loudmouths or some magnaflows and no worries. Swapping out mufflers isn't expensive and after the factory warranty is done a little change of sound may just be enough to renew that new car feeling you had when you first got the car!

I had a '04 SRX and in 2006 we went on a trip and when we got to the hotel the family was laughing at my car. I got out and there was this black fiber stuff hanging 4' out of the left tailpipe. WTF! i pulled it out and the next day more came out. So i took it to the dealer and they said NPF luckily i had saved some and showed it to them.
Cadillac had to ship an entire exhaust system in an 8'box. I think it cost them almost $2K.
A few weeks later another '04 SRX came in with the same thing.

Just spoke with my dealer they are warrantying, they have already replaced two other ZL1's mufflers. I will get the part number to see if it is the same as the original.

Are the replacements the same? surly they made some kind of revision on these to ensure they don't fray apart again.

I have done the fuse pull, and am pretty sure I'm only running out of the end pipes. I'm not having this issue yet, are you guys that are having this issue running with the fuse pull? Or with the normal configuration?

Ok so I just picked up my car. They put on a complet entire exhaust on, which I'm fine with considering I bought the car used, so atleast I know it's a new exhaust, Previous owner had it on normal configuration. I however took the fuse out, but the problem had been there prior to me owning it.

Part # 22874269 is what they have written down. Total figure was somewhere between $2300-2500 for parts but of course I didn't have to pay.

Me myself, I wasn't bashing you I was just pointing out it is just packing inside a muffler. In a few years time the new one will burn all of the insulation out, hopefully it just won't bleed thru to where you can see it. I used to remove it on my aftermarker Kerker exhaust on my motorcycle. Calling a stranger on the internet you do not know is very immature.
