"You're 23 and you own a Camaro SS?"

I get this a lot nowadays, usually they ask if I'm borrowing it off of my dad or a relative, but they are shocked when they find out it's mine.

I'm Tyson and I recently purchased a 2011 Camaro 2SS. I'm 23 and this is the first car I have even bought brand new. I've been a huge Camaro guy since I was probably eight years old when I seen my first yellow and black 1967 SS.

It was purchased from Saskatoon Motor Products on July 3rd. Since then I've had a permagrin every time I start up my SS. The looks I get while driving it are just unreal and I've gotten a lot of compliments.

It didn't take long before I installed a K & N Intake. Then after that came a Borla ATAK Catback exhaust system. Recently installed the heritage grille and got the rear windows tinted.

Believe it or not it already has 12,000Km's on it. Mostly due to the fact that I took it around Alberta for two weeks in July. It is by far the most comfortable car I've ever taken on a long road trip.

Future modifications include a supercharger this winter with a nice set of headers, a set of rims, and more than likely a short throw shifter.

Thanks for reading, I'll be updating often!

I'm 23, too...I never get people amazed that I could afford it or asking me questions about how I got it...but, I did used to get the managers at my workplace calling me money-bags and making sarcastic jokes about how I must only work there for fun, because I "obviously don't need the money." *rolls eyes*

Haha. Congrats on the car, man.

Sounds like you really enjoy your car. Congrats!!! I get the same questions, although I'm 26 and got married this year so people expect me to be careless with my money... =/

congrats and welcome. I'm 25 and I hear a lot of comments about age as well - especially from coworkers thinking I make more $ then I actually do.

first car was a 68 Camaro so I've been wanting one of these since I heard about the concept!

the age gap kind of sucks at times! : )

Not quite 23, I'm 25 and own 2 vehicles. At 23, I had a Charger and a 300 and got the same remarks but having the SRT-8 and the 2SS bought brand new people think i'm crazy. I look at it like this, most of the guys complain and are all curious either drink, smoke, dip(I don't do either of those things believe it or not) or find themselves spending money on strip clubs. People choose to spend there $ in different ways if they actually thought about it, they could probably afford the same things I do.

When I was 20 I bought my first Corvette brand new. I got those kind of remarks all the time. The difference was, I went in school, worked hard and had a good job at GM, and was not spending all my money at the bar on weekends like everyone else. It all comes down to what your passion is and how you want to spend your money. Good for you. I also had my first home built at 25 and got the same kind of remarks about that, so be aware the remarks do not end with cars. Everyone else always think they know what is best for you. just remeber do what works best for you and if you can afford it... go for it.

Exactly man, it was what worked best for me, and I figured I'm only young once. Thanks everyone, it's awesome reading all of the replies!

i'm 23 as well, but i purchased my 2010 2SS when i was 21

graduated from college: 5-15-2009
ordered: 5-19-2009
drove her home: 7-30-2009
22nd b-day: 8-16-2009

14 months and 9700 miles later and the smile is still on my face!

although, my friends and family don't ask how i was able to buy it. i was fortunate enough to graduate in one of the highest paying degrees out of college (petroleum engineer)

and yes i spend all my extra money on my 3 cars rather than going to the bar 4 nights a week like my friends! i prefer it that way! i currently have the camaro, a 2010 silverado i just bought last month, and we bought my wife's 2006 cadillac SRX back in April.
