Boston Speakers in trunk rattling - Video
Im in the process of trying to set up a system with a sub and amp in my car, and I have been reading a lot about rattling and stuff in the trunk with the stock speakers. It may be just stating the obvious of what we already know, but I made a video for you guys, and here is what I found.
As most were saying the speakers do rattle fairly bad with even the stock system. The driver side speaker seemed to rattle the most in my car. When grabbing the speakers, and stabilizing them, the rattle would go away, and you could hear nothing but clear bass. I went to Lowe's and bought a small ratchet strap to pull a little tension on the speakers, not to tight, but just enough to stop them from moving. The rattle was still there for the most part. It seems that when holding them firm with my hand was the only thing that stopped the rattle completely. |

I put some sound deadening material on there and it cut down considerably but I do get some rattle on hard hitting songs.

Did you try the weatherstrip idea yet? http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...44#post1506844
I did it and there is VERY noticeably less rattle. But I agree that we need a better solution. |

Same issue here too. It's even worse with my windows up, with them down it is hardly noticeable.

I don't really see a permanent to fix that without stiffening the metal.
I'll probably try buying some adapters and putting in smaller 6.5" or 5.25" speakers and sound deadening the adapter plates and surrounding metal area. Or just put my fader mostly to the front. |

On the left side it looks as if the metal around the entire speaker is flexing as well. The right side is doing it a tiny bit too but not as much as the left though.

I know how to fix that issue, put a real sub in the car and stop feeding base to a set of speakers not meant to handle it. Those 6x9 are basically mids not woofers.
