Broken Axle

Right side axle joint just broke in half. I thought these were supposed to be the upgraded axles? Car has a little over 1700 miles. I had the car in first gear and rolled into it at about 20mph and all of a sudden it sounded like a shot gun went off. This is the second new camaro that I have bought within 6 months and have had major issues with. The first one was a valve spring in the motor that let go...this sucks.

Hope it was a freak accident and your parts don't take too long to come in.

I'm curious what modifications did you make if any?

Sucks. Shake it off. I do that all the time in my SS with no issues. Bad part.

Call me crazy but I had the same issue with my SS. I drove it home the first day and it broke a valve spring with 60 miles on the ODO. Then it was in the shop again a month ago and all the valve springs weren't up to spec either. I swear, there is something weak about these valve springs.

Must be a defective part.

Yeah a CAI should've not done that. Did you get a chance to look at the part and see if it broke right around a crack/nick/chip etc. in the shaft? Must be a defective part.

Really sorry to hear that though, wish you all the best and I wouldn't worry about it too much, you are under warranty and a half shaft is not that bad to replace at the dealer. Valve springs is another deal.

The axle broke at the joint going into the diff. I really hope it was just a bad part but the car does wheel hop a good bit more than the ss did.
