Can anyone fill me on on how Employee Pricing works? I have a friend that works for GM and he swears up and down all he has to do is call, give me some code, and I'm good to go to get EP on the car.

Prices for dealer-installed options don't include installation, right?

Basically that's how it works.

But you'll get Supplier Pricing, not Employee Pricing. At least I hope he knows that...he can lose all of his discounts if he gives out a GMS discount to a non-GM employee who isn't family.

Not currently true. About a year ago they changed it so employees can get you a "friends and family price," which might be identical to the supplier price, so a few hundred over invoice.

I'm guessing he either didn't get the memo when they changed the policy, or the conversation with the friend took place before the change.

In response to the military pricing being the same, I know when they were doing the "employee pricing for everyone" I got an email saying to go to the gmmilitarysales.com website to figure out what the price would be. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say that military pricing will be the same as what we're looking at here. It was really nice seeing the amount I was going to be spending drop after getting this email.

This is a buddy I work out with at the gym. He works on one of the lines.

What questions do I need to ask him to be sure on this?

Absolutely not. GM is very strict about this. Any vehicle bought using GMS pricing must remain under the same title for a set period of time, two years if I'm correct. Selling the vehicle before then will result in consequences.

Visit this site. www.gmfamilyfirst.com

You can find a lot of details and such there.

Make sure he knows to give you the Supplier Discount for Friends.

I'm waiting. I rely on it in my Grand Prix GTP now, and I will be kicking myself when the option becomes available if I order a Camaro without it.

Sort of, but not really.

The dealer pays invoice...but at the end of each quarter they get a three percent holdback, and they get various bonuses for hitting CSI and sales targets, and they pay a regional advertising fee...
