Catch can routing with a Whipple? Help please.

I have a Whipple and an Elite Engineering catch can I am trying to make sure I have the can set up properly. I have the top port of the can going to the middle port on the Whipple and I have the side port of the can going to the drivers valve cover. I also have an RX breather with a valve for the oil cap. The reason I am asking is because I blew two rear main seals 3 years ago before I but the car in storage while I was in Germany. Now that I am back with the car I am trying to make sure I have everything set up correctly and I will not blow another rear main seal. I have read where others pull out the valve in the RX breather cap. Any help would be great and pics of your set would be helpful .

Thanks,
Joshua

From my understanding and my most recent research regarding this subject the top port should be going to the valley cover and the side port to the SC. The Top of the Can is the outlet and with same as with the dual and single exit port the inlet ports are on the sides on the can & The Valley cover will always be the outlet port.

I have a Whipple and a Mike Norris catch can. Mine is routed like yours, with the exception of the oil fill cap. I am running the stock oil fill cap. The PCV vent from the passenger side valve cover is going to the Whipple intake pipe prior to the throttle body, and the valley cover port is capped off. Been running this setup for 2+years, 9-11psi, with out any issues.

Elite instructions show:
Top port of Catch Can to PCV system (numerous ways to accomplish this from the valley, Rear Driver Side Cover, or a custom routing depending on setup.)
Side Port to Intake Inlet

It's seems like I have mine backwards. It wasn't a problem until I upped the boost to 10lbs.

Should I pull out the valve in the breather as well as swapping the two lines?

The oil cap breather setup i dont have a good answer for. Some people do pull the check vavle but ive heard mixed reviews. Some also say that the oil cap produces some condensation that drops down thru the oil tube and otherwise recommend a second can for the clean side. Id call JDP for feedback on that.

sounds like you have bigger problems then a catch can. I think you have to much blow by...I would do a compression test to see if you have something wrong.

Just get rid of the RX breather, putting the stock fill cap back in place. Then route the passenger side valve cover PCV to the air intake tube. Problem solved. Check the fluid level in the catch can as well.

I am running this breather on my whipple with a RX catch can.
http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/2...-breather.html It is recommended that you run a breather cap to avoid excess crankcase pressure. I have no problems.

Hear is a good read.
