I've been told about the Fire Rings... I'll talk to Corey about it, but I'm thinking it won't work with a sleeved block...

No, it wont have the same clamping force as a 6 bolt head to my knowledge, but I'm firmly believing it will do what we need...
You will be fine with 1/2 inch studs. Sorry to hear about your engine. We use a 4 bolt ERL on Gus's C6 Z06 at 1265 rwhp with no coolant loss etc in 2 bar sd. Learned thru trial and error how to keep the heads down on a 4 bolt using the timing table mapping. And the deck surface on a mast head is awesome. You can O ring a ERL

Thanks for the info, I'll keep it in mind... The motor issue is only a temp set back, but I appreciate the thought...

For those wondering,

I am not on the platform in the Gulf that is involved in the fire. We are still sitting dockside in Pascagoula miss, trying to get the rig ready to go to work.

You have most likely heard of the company i worked for if your into the drilling scene? MDU Resources out of North & South Dakota? Dakota Montana Utilities, they own quite a bit of the worlds largest untapped oil fields in the Williston Basin, Bakken Formation!

3 to 4.3 Billion Barrels of Technically Recoverable Oil Assessed in North Dakota and Montana's Bakken Formation.

All i have to say is this is where to invest, lol

Wow, quite the reserves..I actually haven't heard of them, but other than some of the service companies, I know little of the land drilling operations...

I tried to get my brother into the oilfield. He is a retired NDI certified tech out of the air force... Keeps bitching about the poor wages that civilian contractors pay for his line of work. He could make a fortune and only work half the year...he won't do that....
