Paint Trash?

Hello,

I just took delivery of my 2010 Black Camaro 2SS (with RS Pkg) 10 days ago; I had my wax guy wash and wax the car; after checking it, we noticed several "pricks" in the paint (looks like someone took a pen and jabbed from the inside out). There are also some white spots that he could not get out on the roof; maybe sap?? I have an appontment with a body shop for an evaluation. Any thoughts?? Anybody else with these problems??

thanks,

Jeet

Hmmmm....

My first step would be to try some clay, and/or rubbing compound, and see if this corrects the "pricks" and/or white marks.

It could be that there was some contaminant on the body as it went to paint.

My guess is the body shop at your dealership will try and polish the clearcoat/paint with a mild abrasive to try and correct this.

real quick search and I came up with what is commonly referred to as
"solvent Popping" on OEM cars.

"Blister-like surface defects due to solvent entrapment in the surface of the paint film."

does the defect look like the pics below?

I have a few of those..one on roof and one on pillar...

Only evident to me after "bonding" while Zainoing.

I have those also, but they are hardly noticable. It is like tiny indents. Maybe from Tree Sap?

Should I take the car back to my dealer? I also have a very tiny knick in the paint on the hood that was likely caused by a pepple or something. Hopefully the dealer body shop can get all those out. Wonder if it is covered under the warranty.

Could also be dirt or dust that settled on the car before/during painting. Some of this can be taken out by wetsanding but id have a pro do it.

Yeah for simple washing and polishing with a detialer spray I can do that. But for a full detail and waxing will take it to a pro. I might also need to get a touch up which means bringing it to a body shop.

swapped Black for Silver Ice

Hey folks,

since there were a few paint trash dents and scratches, my dealer gave me the option of ordering another black or swapping it for a cyber gray or Silver Ice. I just swapped the car this afternoon for a Silver Ice; beautiful color as well and no scratches or paint trash marks!!!! I didn't pay a dime!!!! Now off to the tint shop tomorrow. I think a dark tint would look elegant on silver. Any thoughts?

thanks,

Jeet

I just got my car today and I found some of those same spots on the hood. So like a dumb a$$ I rubbed my nail gently over it and made a tiny scratch. I hoping when my Zaino kit comes, the clay bar, polish, and detailing spray will correct this. BTW, does anyone else feel like brad pit in their new camaro? EVERYONE looks and stares LOL.
