Question I'm confused here...

if being one of the R6P (or RP6) whatever, like I said, I'm confused...orders is such a "great and wonderful"thing because the VIN# will be lower, how does that help me if my car hasn't even been built yet? Is there a batch of VIN's waiting to be used when me car does finally get to be built?

By the way, I"ve got a V6 manual 2LT on order since OCT.

I'm trying SO HARD not to be negative, but with out a clear answer, it's hard to remain positive. I feel like people who I have said that I'm getting this car think I'm lying because when they ask about it, I have to say, oh, yeah, not yet...

So, anyway, if anyone can answer this, please do! I appreciate all the info I can get!

Well, when you say a low VIN, you have to put that in perspective. If they build 500,000 of these cars and yours is number 10000, that's pretty low. But no matter what the VIN, the RP6 code will be part of the car forever. And if they build only 14,000 or 20,000 of them (whatever the final talley is), then your car is 1 of 14,000. Look at it that way. Make sense?

best I can answer is that the RP6 cars we never going to be built first...they just said that they would all be built by the third quarter

Regardless of when your car is built, if it is one of the 15,000 Pre-Orders it will have the R6P designation.

This is what is key. Later on down the road the cars with R6P code will be more highly sought after. Hopefully!

Just out of curiosity what color... what options... and How many camaros did your dealer take orders for vs how many allocations they have?

I ordered a black/black V6 RS Manual. The dealer had 12 allocations, and I was #7. Then I find out that I was picked on APR 8 for production (4th, got put in front of a few, evidently) with event code 3000. Now I haven't heard any news, my dealer calls me, but they don't have any new news either, so, here I sit, and wait patiently.

I tell myself, that I will have a heck of a great downpayment when the time comes....

The R6P early ordering code was intended to identify the early orderers for no other reason than to send them a welcome kit, and to gauge hype and demand. If that means something to enthusiasts down the road, then great, but its just an RPO code to me. It never guaranteed that your car would get built sooner than anyone else, or that you would get a low VIN.
