TOMS1SS Build Journal
Year: 2010
Trim: 1SS Engine: L99 Transmission: Automatic Color: Inferno Orange Metallic Name: Uhhhhhh....was Pumpkin. Modifications: Lots of Imperial Blue Vinyl and a vanity plate. Order Date: 2/19/10 Build Date: 3/11/10 Delivery Date: 3/26/10 I ordered my Camaro on 2/19/11 at Van Chevrolet in Scottsdale Arizona from my sales person and Camaro5 member Bobbyosto. A couple things influenced why I ordered the car the way I did. Originally I was going to get a manual with an LS3, but on 2/5/11 I was hit (ironically) by a Ford Mustang when I was out running in Coronado California. I figured with a complete/compound fracture it probably wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world to shift and at the time there was no guarantee my arm would recover correctly, so L99 with the auto it was. I chose Inferno Orange over the other colors after seeing how an old Copo Camaro with Hugger Orange looked in Hemmings Muscle Machines. I really liked Synergy Green....but I didn't want a V6 and in 2010 that color wasn't available on the SS models. I chose to do a gray cloth interior because my original plan was to use my Camaro as a daily driver and leather wouldn't be great with a big hair dog and 120 Arizona heat,so 1SS it was. I thought the gray interior contrasted pretty well so that was a straight forward choice. I traded in my 2002 Mustang and put down...a lot... as the down payment on my Camaro. My Camaros build date was 3/11/10 and it arrived at Van Chevrolet on 3/26/11. I completed my purchase on the 26th and took delivery the day my Camaro arrived. These were first pictures (excluding the one of me standing with it) I took of my Camaro when I got home after taking delivery:

October 5th 2010 my Camaro was sitting out in the back of the store I was the LP Manager for. A large hail storm rolled in and put over 60 dents into my Camaro that would cost approximately $2,800 dollars to replace. The front bumper of my Camaro had to be replaced due to cracks and my hood needed to be repainted. Most of the other dents came out with either with a roller or PDR. The good news was I ended up with a much better matching front bumper with better quality paint that has held up well against chipping. The pictures I have of the damage aren't high quality because I was too angry to take some for myself. I got my Camaro back on November 9th 2010:

On March 26th 2011 when i renewed my registration I decided to order a vanity plate for my Camaro (TOMS1SS). My plates arrived on April 2nd 2011 and I sent a PM to Tran to have my screen name on Camaro5 to TOMS1SS as well:

On 6/28/11 I had Imperial Blue hockey stick stripes but on my Camaro by Beaver Stripes in Phoenix. I went with the Imperial Blue because I didn't think my Camaro would standout with either the traditional Black or White stripes. Also the Imperial Blue kinda went hand and hand with the whole Detroit Tigers theme you see with the window sticker and plate cover. I did the sticks first because I wasn't sure if I'd like them and wanted to something small for starters:

10/12/11 when I got back from vacation in Florida I decided to pull the trigger on a much more extensive vinyl package. I took my Camaro back to Beaver Stripes and had them put on Imperial Blue center stripes, gill stripes and Bowtie Overlays. In addition I had my 1:18th 2010 Camaro SS diecast put in vinyl also to match my car:

That's it for now, I'll keep updating this as I go. Might do something to the exhaust in the near future or maybe even a CAI, but I think I'm done with the look I wanted.
