Is this not just WRONG?

When I bought my car I paid for the dealer rustproofing, because this is Canada and the car will be winter driven. But today I was cleaning the car and looked under the hood and found this MESS!
I think this should have been cleaned up by the dealer. This stuff is now like sticky tar and is going to collect dirt and god knows what. What do you folks think? Should I take it back to the dealer and tell them to clean it up?

I was able to right click each red X and copy paste them into a new browser to see them.

Kind of looks like foam residue.

You probably need to wipe it down with a de-greaser or something.

Thats how the dealer applies it, to all metal surfaces, thats what you paid for. Did you expect them to mask off the plastic and wiring harnesses?....not gonna happen. BTW it was the same on my 95 Z when I bought it new and it will collect dirt and turn black after a while. I cleaned mine up myself when I no longer winter drove the car.

I hate to be blunt, but you paid a bunch of money to have worthless sticky goo slobbered on your car that most likely will most likely cause it to rust, and the company which supposedly guarantees this product will have long since gone out of business (changed it's name and is doing the same thing to someone else).

Most consumer advocate sites document this scam quite well. These cars have abundant rust protection designed into them and do not need this stuff.

dealer rustproofing I've long been told is a no-no.....I've never actually seen why, though.....till now. :( I'm sorry for your troubles.

I used brake cleaner - disclaimer, use at your own risk!

And as others have said, its useless. I will not buy it from a dealer again.

I bought a used Blazer a while back that had this done before I bought it and the stuff had turned into a dark brown substance that resembled spray undercoating. I was able to remove it using "Simple Green", but it took a LOT and a lot of elbow grease.

You can use a good degreaser and it should come off. Just spray the areas you would like the rust proofing removed with degreaser and it'll be only paint left.

That does look like azz. Sorry you paid for that mess. There should be a law against that sort of crap.
