Question "Dealer Installed" stripe package

Is anyone else concerned about the "dealer installed" stripe package and how consistent the placement will be, or if the correct prep methods will be used ???

Help calm me down !!!

Dealer installed stripes mmmmmm.................... I'd probably buy the stripe kits, but would probably get them installed professionally.

Depends on how well you know the dealer. My local dealer has a 3rd party body shop do theirs and they do a lot of stripes and other vinyl work. I've seen their handy work and I have no problem with them putting mine on.

Well I am for one not concerned.. Why? you may ask.

1. since they are factory stripes and installed as per the order on the car they are covered under the bumper to bumper warrenty for 3 years or 36K miles.
If you have a second party install them the warrenty will be void on them so and if they start peeling off guess what, YOU pay to replace them...

2. If they do not install them correctly THEY will have to replace the stripes and reinstall them
If a second party you hire installs them, if they screw up, YOU pay to replace them..

Never thought that far ahead. Good points.

I wouldn't be concerned; body shops replace stripes all the time. It's not like they're peel and stick (once). They can be moved around into the correct location without screwing them up before they're pressed and set into place. This isn't the pre-order system where half the people know what the hell they're doing. This is something they do all the time.

As long as it is the dealers Body shop or one they hire to install the stripes you will be covered... Just don't arrange for the stripe installation yourself..

but who knows maybe they ALL will be factory installed now... we haven;t heard any offical word on it..

Fbodfather can you shed some light on this?? I have an LS with the LPO Black Stripes on order, are they still considered Dealer installed?

If you look at Hendrick's window sticker, it says he ordered orange stripes - they were not put on at the factory. :(

The only thing I'm worried about is placement. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to stuff lining up... if my stripes are even slightly crooked, I will notice and I will hate them. I want the Silver Ice rally stripes on mine. I'd prefer them to be factory installed, but my dealer says they go through a 3rd party and the guy that does them is amazing. He also ensured me that he would trust him with his own personal stuff. He's been pretty awesome so far, so I have no reason to doubt him.

I got black stripes and not worried at all about my dealer installing them.

Like Skyman said, if they mess up, I make them do it over...and they ARE covered under warranty

No worries mate!

It takes no genius to install the stripes. I do it myself. I'm installing my own.

There's a cobalt at my dealership with vinyl stripes and other sh*t all over it. My rep said they have a guy there solely to do decals. They looked pretty good, in terms of alignment and such. I'm not too concerned.
