Feedback request l99 fbo cam gears etc

Hey all. First time hitting the track with drag radials, went with the c6 18x9.5 wheels with Mickey Thompson 305/45/18.

I got to the track on the normal test and tune day, unaware they were doing a pro day, so only got 2 damn runs in, so didn't get to experiment with anything really. Ran the tires at 22 psi, intended to drop them down further just wanted to experience them before making adjustments. Going to do a longer burn out next time and drop psi lower. I feel pretty confident that I'll be in the 11s next session.

My concern was what sounds like a big loss of power after going into 3rd gear, which you'll be able to hear in the video. I sent it to the tuner as well to see if it's something that needs to be worked on.
Thanks

Edit sorry it's sideways. Also the right lane wasn't showing trap speed, I think it was around 111

Drop the PSI to about 18 and do a little longer burnout. Are you shifting or is it doing it on it's own? Stock stall, gears? 111 mph seems low for a cammed l99 I'm assuming full bolt ons?

FBO yea full bolt ons. Gpi ss3 vvt Cam, 3.91 gears, converter, all that.
And when j was running street tires I was hitting 115-116 but 12.6.

I've just been using the M mode letting it shift itself. I saw pro stock John say he paddle shifts, I believe

And yea dropping the psi more and longer burn outs were in the plan for yesterday, but I ran out of time. Only had a couple free hours yesterday, my friends that stayed an hour after I left got more runs in

Tuner says what I'm hearing is the converter locking up

What size stall? What rpm are you launching at?

It's a 36 or 3800 FTI triple disc, I called them and they recommended 2200ish launch. Again only got those 2 launches in so I didn't get to try lower or higher. Hooked easy af and no spin that I could feel.

Talked to the tuner today and they are going to change my shift points to match this wheel and tire size as well

Shift points can help, I didnt realize people are locking the converter in 3rd? I thought that was a 4th gear thing?

I picked up 3/10 just tweaking shifts after my tune....(air got a little cooler as the night went on too)

I trapped 110 with Longtubes and CAI + tune. Stock converter stock cam, everything else stock actually. Maybe see if you can get a 4th gear only lock up tune too and try both.

18psi worked the best for me on similar tires, well 17-18 in the pits. would be warmer after burnout.

Good Luck!

The converter is whats holding you back some. My L99 FBO no cam was cutting 1.65 60fts and was running 11.90s @ 114mph. Those are the best Proven 60ft converters for our 6L80Es. Theres room for improvement there. Ive ran almost every L99 combo from bolt ons to heads and cam @10.40

That's pretty annoying then. My buddy's running his stock scat pack (maybe a superbee) on slicks and hit 11.9 - feels like i wasted a lot of money some times

No I don't paddleshift, I only use that feature for burnouts. I let the car shift itself for passes.

I'd run 18-22 psi, get real smoke off the tires. If you still spin, Try stalling it up and rolling into the gas a little so you can at least get down the track. Doing that I still went 1.51 and 11.06.

I think you should go at least 11.3@122. 96 / 7.20 in the 1/8th.

Don't feel discouraged man, Keep in mind our 400hp stock rating vs a bigger 392 485hp rating is a big jump and a 392 has a factory aggressive cam as is. IMO you just need to fine tune it at the track there are SS3 guys in the low 11s and some in the 10s.

Got it, thanks guys. Getting a little retune done on Thursday for the shift points and will be lowering the tire pressure and warming up more. Got my wedding and honeymoon happening in November but hopefully get to sneak a track day in there lol.

Thanks again for the input everyone and I'll update when I go again
