Would buying locking lugnut's help with the thieving? I dont know much about such things but it seems like maybe a thief would have way to just break off or cut off quickly the thread that the lugnut is attached too, to get the tire off?

I'm just wondering if they greatly help the theft of the tires or if the guys that steal tires for a living have an easy/quick way to bypass them.

correct they are not standard but a pretty much a MUST HAVE! I picked up some gorilla locks off of amazon for around $18 bucks or so. They are the best imo since each set has a different key.

Buy 2 different brands too. Or more.

Insert my generic 2 way alarm rant as well so you can catch the SOB's or at least get the satisfaction of running them off.

Well see....That's my dilemma. I somehow need to convince them to come in my house so I can legally shoot them.

By any chance do you have pics with the lugs installed? I want to get some locking lugs too but I can't find any that really look like the factory lugs and I thought they might look funny. Does anyone know if GM might produce some specifically for these camaros?

As far as GM making locks especially for the Camaro. I don't believe they do. You can always get locks for all of the studs on each tire. So they will look identical and not out of place. That's my plan at the moment anyways. BTW Gorilla locks sell this particular setup.

92221879 - Chrome locking and standard lug nuts

My car: 2010 1SS with polished aluminum 20" wheels

My Camaro came with 5 standard (short) lug nuts per wheel (no locking lug nuts).

I saw that you could order just the locking lug nuts or order the locking and non locking (in chrome). I wasn't sure what I had would be called chrome since I had the polished aluminum wheels. I decided to get the lug nut kit named in the title of this post.

When the lug nuts arrived there were 16 standard (long) lug nuts and 4 locking lug nuts. The locking lug nuts are from McGard (M14 x 1.5 with 22mm key nut size).

The length of the McGard locking lug nuts were about 3/8 to 1/2 (can't remember) longer than the original lug nuts. The lug nuts supplied with the part/kit I ordered were longer and better matched the length of the locking lug nuts.

Here's a couple of pictures

so for you guys who are waiting for their cars.. try to pry off your salesman, to pitch in that set of wheellocks in --free of course-- when you're doing the final papers.. it's worth a try..
