Cop flew up on my tail and started working his laptop to run my tag so I just pulled over on the off ramp. As I was pulling over and he was so concentrated on his laptop he drove on by me as I was pulling over. He made a left turn at the light at the end of the off ramp and pulled over at the same time I was getting back into the lane. I turned left and once again I pulled over in front of him as he was trying to punch it and get in behind me. So I punched it a tad so he would not hit me as he was standing on the brakes. He then comes up to my window and asks whey did you pull over before I pulled you over? I said because you flew up on me and started running my tag on your laptop and I figured you had a reason so I just pulled over. (( I did not say anything about how funny it was that he drove by me the first time and that it should be a safety issue for your laptop to not black out when the cop car is moving.)) He then said he pulled me over “I pulled myself over thank you” for excessive take off from my taillights, I said my taillights… he said I meant the stoplight “I was only at ¼ throttle at take off”. He turns and waves off his back up car and runs my DL. Comes back to the window hands me my info back and says thanks and have a nice day! He was all messed up from me pulling over for him twice. LOL… The whole thing was funny and strange.

Theres a law for anything...NExt it will be excessive speed while standing still at car show..So my car looks fast...

My neighbor and the first one I called is a state cop and he said there is no law for excessive take off. As long as you do it within reason but if you stomp it then it is reckless driving.

He didn't want the judge or his backup to know what happened!! It would have been very embarrassing for him.

It is called Exhibition of Speed in Florida (can be charged solo or with another driver), but it is fought it court often and depends on the Judge...Unfortunately, it is all perception...almost every single state has this law.

Either the cop was a rookie, or he wanted to speak in plain terms and utilized "take off"... I agree, rather strange.

It appears your state it is "criminal" has a 1000 dollar fine attached to it. May be why he didn't write it, but you guys have some crazy traffic fine schedules up there...Our state has a criminal classification and a moving violation classification varying on the degree of the offense... its pretty weak. A good cop will sit on it and wait until you have other violations attached such as speed, racing, or reckless.

I have no problem with people chirpin the wheels just a tad, it's all in good fun and if they aren't speeding past that, it hurts no one... as long as I know they didn't see me and it wasn't a rub in my face.

The thing is I did not take off crazy and never past 1/4 throttle. I don't know what the deal was and why he actually wanted to pull me over.

It sucks when you get messed with just because you have a bad ass ride. Nice job pulling over before he lit them up, really messed with his head.
