Wheel Vibration

I have been experiencing a vibration in the steering wheel at higher speeds (60+ mph). I have only driven about 900 miles.

Took it back to the dealer today and they took off all 4 wheels and checked and ballanced them. I was told one was "perfect" but the others were out of ballance...one was 30 grams off.

When I drove it home, I still felt the vibration. It feels like it is coming from the front wheels.

Should I just expect to have a vibration when driving cruzing above 60? Not what I expected to experience.

Anyone else experienceing this issue or have any insight?

Take it back and have them check again. there has to be something with the wheel, rotor or something else that is making it off balance. There shouldn't be any noticeable vibration on the car at any speed.

The same thing happened to one of my cars. I had a placebo effect right after I got them balanced, and they were horribly off balance, but now I still feel a slight vibration. The only thing I can think of is the tire has slightly worn in a little. I assume the problem will fix itself.

I have a 2SS/RS...stock wheels and tires.

I drove my work car, 2009 G8, fast on the way to work just a few minutes ago and did not experience the same.

I guess I will try to see if they will check the allignment next.

Is it all the time? Or just after has sat for a while and the vibration only last a few miles?

That is an excellent question. Unfortunatley, I don't drive it too often (every 2 or 3 days) so it always sits for a few days. The vibration is most noticable after I hit about 60 and then I feel it when I am accelerating or cruzing.

I contacted the dealer and they are going to look at it again next week. I am going to ride with a tech and show the vibration. So far the dealer has been willing to do about anyting I ask.

I am begining to wonder of it is the calipers. I don't think I have owned a car with weights on calipers in the past....

I too have a 2SS/RS that has (what is to me) a bad vibration over about 65mph. I have also noticed that right when I lift off the clutch and start to move I hear a ticking sound coming from underneath the car sort of rearwards, have you noticed this? I'm wondering if this is a rear axle problem...
The vibration is more than tires to me...it's pretty severe. Not severe as in resonance - but, severe as in a strong vibration (if that makes sense). I may be taking it to the dealer this week - I'll let you know what they say. A friend of mine works for GM and said there were a number of rear axle failures during testing...he said to be sure and get the extended warranty...

I've noticed what feels like my back tires being out of balance about 70. Guess I'll swing my car in and have it checked.

If your bad vibrations seem to be worse while braking it is the brake rotors. Likely from over torquing the lug nuts. Something that needs to be watched on these cars. If you have new wheels or tires put on make sure that are hand torqued not torqued with torque stix.
My thought on the caliper weights was to dampen a vibration. Most disagreed with me saying it was for a harmonic issue. (squeak) It makes me wonder a little if maybe it was to correct both?

Take it to Chevy and tell them to look at the rotors. Could be bent. The vibrations are more pronounced at higher speeds because it may only have a slight bent.

They will be able to tell right off the bat.

do this especially if you feel the vibrations more when you begin breaking.
