What (if any) Corvette bits would you like to see on the Z?

A couple that come to mind that I'd opt-in for...

- 427 7.0L / dry sump oil system
- Corvette "door handles"
- Some carbon fiber bits
- Engine build option

What else ya got....?

Push button start would be nice. I hate using the key.

The biggest thing for me was getting the Heads Up Display. Other things that I would like to see would be the manual gear shift knob from the Vette, magnetic ride control and the changeable exhaust control.

The entire Z51 package, forget the F55 Magnetic Ride Control. I would say the Transverse Leaf Spring IRS but I think that system might be heavier. TR6060 with M12 gearset... and the C7 raised cam 5.5 liter V8 N/A....

The main point of using the transverse composite leaf springs is that they are lighter than a conventional suspension.

As for the 5.5L V8, there is a displacement limit in AMLS racing. That is the only reason why they are using 5.5L engines, not because its going to be the standard displacement for the next generation engines. In the past, they were using E85 fuelled 6.0L LS7's in their car, while the actual LS7 is 7.0L unit that only takes dino juice. Don't base anything of what you see in the C6.R's. There could be 5.5L engines in the GM lineup, or they could keep the same displacement as they have today, or they might go more traditional and bring back 5.3L and 5.7L engines for cars. But of all the choices, a 5.5L engine is probably the least likely to happen.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 5.0L engine in the next generation of SBCs.

If the Transverse Leafs are lighter and as long as the springs are composite, I would like to see that system in the Z28.

I was under the impression that the standard displacement for the C7 was the 5.5 and was being reverse engineered from the C6 in ALMS. I would still like to see the raised cam design, is there any specs on the 5.5R out yet? I would like to see some of the internal measurements.

Thats the assumption, but there is nothing to base it off of. I think it is a prototype for the next generation of V8's, but as the 6.0L LS7.R proves ... displacement means nothing. Additionally, I don't know what they're testing with those engines. A lot of what we're expecting on the gen V engines (notably, direct injection) isn't present on those race engines, so it could be more mundane things like coolant circulation.

As for the specs on the 5.5L race engine, here is what I could find:

Displacement (L / ci): 5.5 / 336
Horsepower: 485 @5800
Torque (lb-ft): na
Bore diameter (mm / in): 103.89 / 4.090
Crankshaft stroke (mm / in): 80.90 / 3.185
“V” angle (deg): 90
Cylinder bore spacing (mm / ci): 111.7 / 4.40
Valvetrain: pushrod with overhead valves, titanium inlet and exhaust
Valves per cylinder: 2 Camshaft drive: chain
Cylinder case material: aluminum
Cylinder liners: aluminum
Cylinder head material: aluminum, CNC ported
Lubrication system: dry sump
Fuel system: sequential EFI
Throttle system: individual runner
Fuel: E85R ethanol (ALMS) E10 (Le Mans)
