this was my guess on 07-13-2008... and some information has been confirmed since then, so I'd like to revise my guess: base LT- $24,000 fully loaded RS/LT - $28,500 base SS - $30,000 fully loaded RS/2SS - $36,995 Tom Henry Racing Bumblebee package - "more than you can afford, pal... little weasel racing" sorry, had to throw in that "fast and furious" quote

what if SLP offered a supercharged ZL package like they about to offer on the Firehawk G8s? maybe call it a ZL600? would you buy that?

Even a 'fully loaded' Mustang GT comes in at around that price... So it's neither high nor unreasonable to expect it. |

They couldnt make it much more than that.any higher and you are competing againt a base Vette.

GM has already stated that they are not afraid to step on the corvettes toes when it comes to horspower, i wouldn't find it hard to believe them worrying about the price getting into corvette territory. Besides, no matter how many ways you look at it, the corvette and the camaro are two completely, totally, unbelieveably different cars. The only problem GM would have with pricing is people like me, who just cant decide which one i want. Each one goes for two totally different lifestyles.

If a Camaro and Corvette were the exact same price, I'd still choose the Camaro. The Corvette has never excited me that much. I'm not saying I think the Camaro will be that expensive. I'm just saying the 'competing with a base Vette' argument isn't always valid. When I go for a new car I know what I want before I even leave my house. There's no shopping around different models in the same price range. |

Here's the prices that I got with all the options that I want on my new SS:
2009 Mustang GT Premium - $35,445 2009 Challenger R/T J Package - $36,155 These prices make me sad, I was so hoping to get a SS2/RS for around $32k-$33k :( |

Haven't read through all the pages on the thread. But if you go and build an R/T build the SRT the 6.1L SRT Hemi is the only engine equal to the SS's 6.2L.
I'm thinking in the realm of everything. for an equal car. the 2SS will be cheaper then the SRT8 and better performance. |

I just built an R/T, and I hit about $37k. That's with the 6M, interior illumination, uconnect package, 20-inch rims, 7-speaker BA sound package, and HID headlamps. Just about everything except the sunroof and a few minor options. Now we know the Camaro won't have a GPS system like the Challenger's, so that drops it about $1k, which makes a comparable "fully-loaded" Challenger R/T about $35k-$36k. It's nice to know the HID's on the Challenger are only a $695 option. Based on some of the option prices of the Challenger, I'd guess the RS package on the SS to be about $1000 to $1500, considering everything except the HID's, the darker taillamps, and the midnight silver wheel paint are already standard.

My Chally cost around 35,000 when I built it. I expect my SS to be about the same. We have the Corvette to thank for the Camaro performance and cost. The GT500 and SRT-8 use specially prepped engines and that's why they cost so much. Where else can you find the SC 5.4 other than the GT500? Nowhere. Where can you find the 6.1 Hemi? Limited production high end sedans. Where can you find the LS3? In 40,000 base model corvettes. The LS3 is the bread and butter performance V8 at GM just like the 3V 4.6 and 5.7 Hemi. Gotta love GM
