As long as we can stick to facts, you pony boys can take up all the space you want.

@ OP
You missed the "I joined because I want to be part of a knowledgeable and mature community of car enthusiasts (which you aren't helping the cause of); and to support the love of all American pony/muscle cars alike." Just because 2 cars are rivals (remember that the Mustang was the birth of the muscle car era, Chevrolet wanted to compete and follow up with the Camaro) doesn't mean you have the right to disrespect the other out of pure supremacy toward one brand/manufacturer/etc. Respect people's views. Respect people's cars. You may not agree with what they see in their own eyes, but at the very least, respect people's cars. I have yet to order a Camaro, because I want to see the route GM is going (which actually doesn't look too appealing ), but I have faith and still would love to own a Camaro. Supporting the company and the dealerships is just as important as taking care of your new car. If everyone just looked at life the same way and said that "X" is going into the shitter so only buy from "Y" company, there would be no market. Ford is doing far better than GM in the economic news world of today, corporately, that is (at least); and it may be wise to invest in the original pony car, the Mustang - even though the Camaro is a FAR BETTER CAR IN EVERY ASPECT THAN THE MUSTANG IS AT THIS POINT IN TIME. Time will tell, and I hope GM gets up from the fetal position like it is in now, and proudly supports itself without government intervention - in order to be the powerhouse of domestic car manufacturing it can be. What were we talking about again? Oh. Don't bash on all Mustang people. Not all of them are douchebags. |

I've owned 8 F Bodies. A 72 Camaro, 74 Super Duty 455 T/A, 77 T/A, 84 Z28, 95 Z28 1LE, 98 Z28, 2000 SS Convertible, and a 2002 Z28 that I currently own. I've owned one 88 5.0 Mustang.
I can see the positives of both cars. The Mustang GT IMHO beats the Camaro in the following areas 1. Lighter weight and smaller dimensions 2. Better interior style and materials 3. On a smooth surface I feel the Mustang will be the better handling car. (Track Package) 4. Having been around since 2005 most of the bugs have been worked out On the downside for the Mustang 1. Has a really ugly rear end 2. 5 speed vs 6 speed tranny 3. Needs more horsepower 4. No IRS The Camaro out guns the Mustang in these areas 1. More horsepower with more potential 2. I like the styling better, but think GM dropped the ball on the front end design. The V6 looks better. 3. Better ride quality on rough pavement and probably quieter 4. Won't see a billion of them on the road for a while The negatives 1. I'm sorry but this car is huge and is a porker 2. Interior design hasn't grown on me 3. First year car from anyone scares me 4. It will be a while before we see discounts or incentives compared to the Ford 5. Trunk entry is miniscule The real question is which one would I buy. At this point I would be undecided. I usually buy cars based on their autocross potential. If I based it on that I'd buy the Mustang. But my heart tells me I'd rather have the Camaro. Still undecided at this point. I can tolerate the Mustang guys on this forum as much as I can the gung ho Camaro fanatics. It's good to see both point of views. May the best car for you win.

I'm just here to keep updated on the camaro, interested when I'll finally see them on the streets. In the future, I may jump into a 5th gen camaro, but I'd have to weigh my options. The only thing (besides $$) that would hold me back is that the car is morbidly obese. (BTW i do consider my car obese, but the camaro tops the weight of my piglet convertible by ~100 lbs.)

Sorry, but this thread is dumb.
We can't pick who gets to be here. I would rather have mustang guys here than some of the other "loyalist" who are on this site |

Frankly, I like Mustangs, if the Camaro wasn't right around the corner, i'd be down at my local Ford dealer. I don't much care for Japanese or European Cars and would be more than happy joining you in denouncing the owners of such. But seriously, I really don't care what someone drives, I like the looks of American Muscle Cars even if they're not built in America anymore. I thought I had missed the Muscle Car Era back in the sixties, but its here again and better than ever! I say let the Mustang owners join in the celebration here, who cares if they're hating on the new KR.
