I'm shocked no one made the obvious "knob" joke...

I had this happen to the car I am driving now, and the dealership replaced without hesitation.

Yeah I am shocked none of those jokes either . I think I may take it to the dealership this weekend to see if they will do anything worth a shot huh

He lives in AZ and it is hot as hell here the past several weeks. Our cars do things others just don't see. I wonder if the leather dye is reacting to the UV rays, heat or both. GM tests cars out here but there are components like the shifter knob that may not get tested in the production version so my guess is the heat and UV rays are the problem. Either that or like others have said his hands are made of gravel.

I'de get new one under warantee and if it does the same then you would know it was just that one that was bad. If not try to narrow down the causes like UV get deap tints ect just keep getting new knobs from GM till it works out or you figure out the cause it's not like they need the car takes a couple of minutes to change out and it's free.

Yeah I am going to take it down to the dealer this weekend to see if they will replace it for me. I think I will call tomorrow to see if they will to save a trip. I got the car tinted after the first week I got it with 35% on the sides and 5% in the back.

No...

It's not uv and heat. My vette is 19 years old and the shifter looks new. It's auto but it's leather.

He just grips to hard and needs to relax.. a lot. Hold it like it's an egg on a stick not a baseball.

UV and heat damage on this Camaro to do that would take probably 25 + years and that's parked outdoors with no tint.

Do you wear rings, like a class ring or something with a raised edge? It's hard to tell from the dark pics but it looks like something abrasive has been chewing at it. Do you have a pet you leave in the car?
