AC recharge
Does anyone know where exactly the R134 recharge valve is located? I want to recharge my AC but don't know where it is.

On a 2-3 year old car you shouldn't need to touch the AC system, nor should you be doing that kind of stuff yourself.

Why not? If you have a gauge set, know how to hook it up and know how to read it, it's pretty straightforward.

Recharging the refrigerant is easy. But why are you recharging it on a new car?...

Sorry bud but adding freon is one of the easiest things you can do maintenance wise to the car, probably just as easy as adding oil when it's low. So by your same logic that we shouldn't do easy stuff ourselves, we should also go to a mechanic every time your car is half a quart of oil low.

Okay, everyone makes a big deal about this kind of stuff. Can you guys please answer my original question instead of asking me one. I have a license to handle refridgerants. Also my car is not brand new. Its 2010 model and has close to 60K miles on it.

First thing, you have an AC license, so you should know that the only reason a system would need gas added is if it's leaking, and it has to be repaired before you recharge it. Second the Schrader port is in a very obvious location...at the front beside the windshield washer tank. Good luck.

Make sure your gauge set can measure both the high side and the low side. You can quickly tell if there's something wrong if your low side pressure is creeping up.
You add refrigerant to the low side, obviously (I hope). Low pressure is after the passenger compartment evaporator and before the compressor. There should be a high side port as well, but that one is after the compressor. If the system is still functioning at all, you can determine which is which by feeling the temp difference on the lines. Hot lines are high pressure, and you do not want to try to add there! If your system has a leak, you can try to detect it with dye, but that's not always successful from a shade tree perspective and may require special detectors. Pulling a vaccuum, boiling everything off, maintaining the vac and refilling is the best way to go about it, and if the system is opened (besides using the ports) in any way, I'd replace the receiver/dryer and consider adding compressor oil according to the shop manual values. And I didn't even ask a question there. John B.
