You should avoid products that contain ammonia. The can break down the color on films over time. I've used Windex w/vinegar on film for years and it works good and is ammonia free.

Allow me to insert the sales pitch for Adams Glass Cleaner here
J/K... more about information... make of it what you will. Like was mentioned most any glass cleaner for cars will be safe, the thing to look for is that it does not contain alcohol or ammonia. Heres what sets ours apart from others. Products like Invisible Glass use chemical cleaners to liquify or dissolve contamination on the surface which can lead to streaking in some cases. The product itself isn't streaking, but the stuff it turned to goo (bug guts, dirt, sap, etc) is. Our approach to glass is a little different. Rather than relying on chemicals to dissolve the junk we use an ultra fine polishing agent in our cleaner. It actually uses a mechanical action versus the traditional chemical action. The polishing agent is so fine that it literally won't scratch even the most delicate materials like nav screens but it is very effective. What this translates too is less likelihood of smearing or streaking and less product to do the job as you don't have to saturate stuff like you do with a chemical cleaner. Used with a glass towel you can literally have FLAWLESS glass very easily. Combined with our sealant and you'll be AMAZED at how clear the glass will be... the sealant goes a long way to improve optics as well as make cleaning it much easier. In any event just putting the info out there... there is no right or wrong answer in glass cleaning. I just like the fact that our product takes a different approach and in my opinion gets the same result with less product/effort. |
