Question Multiple preorders at same priority question

My dealer was showing me my order in Dealerworld this afternoon when we changed it to remove the Hurst STS constraint. There was another 2SS on order with the same priority as mine, Priority 1. When I asked him how GM would know to pull mine first he said if the priority is the same it goes by order date. He assured me that since mine was ordered first it would get pulled first.

I was hoping that some of you dealers could help verify if this information is correct or if I should go back to him and ask if the other order could be set for a different priority. They only had 1 allocation for the whole year so I'm not about to let my spot get taken by someone that ordered way after me.

GM will pull orders based on if the order is a good order with no constraints. Personally, I want to be fair to everyone that has ordered a Camaro and give each of them their own priority #. We have 9 Camaros ordered and the are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. That is what I would do to make sure people know order they will get pulled.

Right, but if there are 2 orders with no constraints and the same priority do we know how GM will pull the first one once the dealer gets an allocation?

That I am not a 100% sure. I have never put myself in a position where this would happen. He should put them in a priority to make they get pulled in some kind of order. Here is something off Chevy Launch that kind of addresses this issue.

Will GM automatically place our bona fide sold customer orders into production? And is the first order submitted the first order produced for our dealership?

GM cannot guarantee production of any order at this early stage. Dealers are responsible for the flow, or prioritization of sold orders or stock orders during order submission periods. Actual production will be impacted by available weekly allocation, material constraints, and priority numbers assigned by the Dealer. It is strongly suggested Dealers assign a varied priority number for each order on hand, starting with the lowest number on the order the dealer would like to be the first submitted into production

Good point. I'm thinking I should ask him to change the other order from 1 to 2 so that we will know for sure that mine will get put in production first. I don't think he should have a problem with me asking that. They should have done it that way in the first place.

The ordering guy at my dealer said he has changed all orders to #99 except mine, it's #1.

Once mine is pulled (if no constriants) then he will line up who was #2 and change that order to #1 and leave the rest at #99.

He also said they get the weekly constraints and have from Thursday to Tuesday to get the orders right before GM pulls them...so even if all were #1 he can change them in the 5 or so days to line them up correctly.

He (really the only guy I trust at the dealership!!) seems to understand the system, how ordering works and has been honest with me so far...I can only trust I'll be treated right at this point!

So...in other words...he can get them built in any order he wants and when the other people ask, he can tell them all they are priority #1. Sounds like a shady dealer to me.

Yep...the dealership is shady!! But, I do beleive the ordering guy is the honest person there!! The GM to the salesmen have all lied to me, told me stories, not called me back, no emails and pretty much everything else you could imagine...the ordering guy though has always called me back (same day), emailed me (same or next day) and been straight with me when I ask questions.

So...I'm putting my trust in him...time will tell!

sure does...

I think they should put them all at priority #1 and let the order date be the deciding factor.

So, you think if a long time loyal customer comes in, the dealership should say "Sorry, Mr. Loyal you will have to go to the end of the line"? I think Mr. Loyal will find himself close, if not at the front of the Camaro line. Dealer loyalty will get you high on the list!!!

What? Ummm I think the dealer is being on the up-and-up and making sure that the correct orders get pulled in the proper order. They could always tell people they're #1. They don't need to do this to lie to them. The priority #s in the system don't mean very much at all.

I have bias because I am #1 at my dealer. However, this will be the first car I ever get from this dealer.

I ordered at 7:00 AM on 10/13/08. I don't want someone placing an order in late January... and end up bumping me to #2 becuase they have purchased from the dealer before.

I was first on 10/13/08 and as of 2 days ago I am at Priority #2. Why not #1? I could only speculate. :( I do know they want my money at some point. Whoever they moved to the front of the line will probably be the first one they build but I should be soon after that. Not fantastic but I can cope with it.

I'm just trying to get confirmation from someone that the order date will actually determine which is pulled first if they are all the same priority and all don't have any constraints.
