LS / 1 LT - i-pod connectivity

Is an i-pod connection to the sound system standard on all models? Or do you need to select the Connectivity package for that?

According to the sales brochure, it's not available on the LS and it's an option on the 1LT under the convenience and connectivity package.

Yeah i noticed that, about the usb port with the connectivity package.

But with the LS, the audio system says mp3 playback capability. So I was wondering if that means an i-pod is still able to hook into the system, through an auxillary port or something.

I'd just go with the LS and the 21 rims instead of the 1LT with RS if so

As silly as it sounds, the i-pod playability is the most important part to me haha.

Hmmmm....Not offered from the factory. What would it take to add it? The radio does have the aux button on it.

Most new cars have a plug in on the radio where the auxillary button is, or sometimes hidden / in the glove box oddly enough. (a 1/8' plug in, the type of plug for most headphones etc.)

But looks like that package might be needed then. Or a new radio meh.

when it says mp3 playback, i think it refers to the cd player. it should be able to play a cd with mp3's on it. as far as the ipod is concerned, i think all models have the aux port and it should be in the center glove box.

It's correct that the MP3 referenced there is for the CD player, not iPod.

All models have an Aux jack, so you'll always have that option.

The USB port is in the C&C package or on 2LT and 2SS.

All models have the AUX input, it is under the arm rest. If you want the USB in the LS you will need to buy a PDIM (or wait for some equivilant aftermarket device).

From the GM accessories site:
Personal Audio Link (PDIM)
*Coming Soon*
Part Number: 92213212

Your Price $180.11
With Installation $268.11

Personal Device Interface Module

This Personal Device interface Module (PDIM) allows the user to plug their remote audio devices (iPod, MP3 player, etc.) into the USB port. The PDIM allows for command and control of the remote audio device through the radio and steering wheel controls.

I've seen this reference to steering wheel controls a couple of times when researching adding bluetooth to my 1LT and purchasing a PDIM. Problem is, don't the steering wheel controls only come with the C & C package??

Yes, steering wheel controls were part of C&C.
