Need A little Advice for my V6
I have had my 2011 v6 2lt camaro for about a year now and decided that it may be time to start upgrading it a little bit. So far I got a rotofab CAI for Christmas (which I still have to install) but other than that I don't know what I could get to get more power out of my v6 without spending a lot of money, after all I am pretty new to this whole "upgrading" thing. Any ideas are appreciated, especially if you have done it to yours. After all I plan on having this car for a really long time and don't want to do anything to it that would ruin it completely.

Exhaust is a great mod. Wont help w hp but its a def must. I had flowmasters american thunder on my LT and it sounded so good I put the same thing on my SS.

But if anyone tells you that slapping a few decals on it is good for 50HP they are lying. Not just any decal will do. It has to be Brembo or Edelbrock to get 50 HP. Seriously though, welcome around and check the V6 forum.

v6 huh? Why go for performance?
You'll spend a lot of money and waste your warranty and for what? So you get the performance of the v8 which an actual upgrade could do for cheaper and keep the warranty intact... not trying to bash, as I have the v6 too. I'm just going for cosmetics though because honestly if I wanted the extra hp, I would've gotten the v8. Of course, it is your car and you are welcome to do what you want to make you happy There are plenty of people with v6s that are into upgrading performance in the v6 forum, take a look there. Beware of the modding bug though, once you get bit you're infected for life ... or until you run out of money hahahah |

Well I don't want to get as much power as possible, just enough to beat my roomates new 2011 v6 mustang . I have been looking into exhaust tips to make it sound better but not sure if i want to dish out like $600 just yet...what have you done cosmetically to make yours look better? I was thinking of maybe trying to get mine to look like a modern version of the old '69, if that makes any sense

The intake is a great start! Next u can go with a throttle body which is about $150(but numbers rnt great, its purpose is to remove that dead spot the v6 has at low rpms)...after that u can go with headers and a tune but just remember that can cost over $600 and void ur warranty...Was going that route but ended up focusing on looks after I added my intake and exhaust lol.

Not a huge fan of engine modding myself, but I would sure listen to those who have done it successfully...believe me, its hard to avoid...but make sure you understand what you are doing, others will help you...some may do mods just for fun and not be that concerned about hp...but my $.02 is that "impulsive" mods tend to created the need for other mods...whatever you mod usually impacts something else, which then of course you would have to mod...etc...etc...etc...

throttle body is cheap and effective from what everyone says. a tune maximizes the intake results but voids warranty.

It wasn't until recently that I've accepted that modding the V6 for performance is a lost cause. I can only hope that I won't have to hold back on my next car purchase. Sometime in 2017 or so...
