I am not voting yet because I dont care how short the Hurst is on my car i cant get into 2nd and 3rd gear with lightening speed and consistancy which SUCKS. How can this be good for drag racing? there are no positive stop adjustments so it is what it is.

I really am leaning to the MGW but I want to drive one before I shell out another $500 right now.

Hurst is a killer shifter, It's the way the damm thing should of been from the factory. But if MGW wants to send a unit my way for a side by side, then I'm open for it. I really liked the ability to keep the stock appearance option, and I personally don't see the need in anything else being included in the package other than what Hurst provides. I haven't missed a shift yet and I'm a half asser, so this thing does the job for me by God.

They contacted me a few days later from the installed and made sure eveything was fine or not. Plus they said if anything goes bad in 1 day, 1 weeks, or even a few years, they will help me on fixing it! The guys from Hurst are great! (just as a side note, I do not work for Hurst) Also they are making a step by step install video right now! It will be out shortly.

In addition to the usual Hurst contact phone, e-mail, and fax methods, I can be reached via pm on Camaro5 as well. I can think of 3 or 4 Camaro5 users that have my personal cell number. I have even been known to hang out with forum members at cruise nights and car shows just to talk about cars. This is usually off the clock, and I do it because I truly enjoy it. We are even hosting a Meet and Greet at our facility this Saturday in a hope to get some Camaro owners together for some good old fashioned car talk and hanging out. Both Hurst and our competitor make a great shifter, evidenced by their many happy customers. They are both leaps and bounds better than stock so I am sure you will be happy with either one.

Chris @ Hurst
I stand corrected! Thanks for setting me straight. My decision just got much more difficult.

If you thought you had a tough decision before, I hope this makes your decision easier. The video I mentioned earlier is now on our YouTube channel!

MGW. Although my Maro is stored for the winter, just waiting to go the hoist for a bunch of mods. ARH's, BMR, Corsa, Vararam and MGW. Can't wait for spring to test them all.

lets start a new poll, transfer over the current results and add barton and mti. i feel like i may be missing one or two companies... but it would be cool to see this data and how people are comparing. instead of having 50000 threads asking the same question... "what shifter is better"

This sorta thing is borderline silly due to the small number of people who have tried both (THEIR votes would be good).

From how I see it, there are really 2 broad shifter choices - Upgraded replacement of the stock lever with better pivot points and really short throw (Barton, MTI, Hurst) and outright shifter body/mounting replacement (the MGW, and maybe the ripshift).

The shift lever replacements will probably be all be pretty similar to eachother and different to stock. MGW would probably feel the most different, a bit like a different vehicle. I'm sure all would be an improvement over stock, which, while actually not that long a throw, is rubbery, bouncy and vague.

I will often wax poetic about the connection between the driver and his machine through stick shift driving - but that my long experience with this connection has been through good aftermarket shifters, not lousy stock ones.

But seriously, a *useful* poll would be "I have installed/used both an MGW and one of the following: Hurst, Barton or MTI, and preferred the. . . ." Even better would be an eloquent description of the differences in driving each one. . . .
