California Dreamin...

Heard how crazy the price of gas is in California, (CA), especially the southern part, like LA and SD.

So I took a ride down from Oregon to Yreka, CA, first city off I-5 interstate, most northern part of the state. Gas was anywhere from $4.69, the lowest regular to $5.01 right off the freeway exit, Spirit gas station. Some spirit. Chevron had gas for $4.69. Up in Oregon, it is about $4.05 on average, just for regular, and you can't pump your own gas in Oregon. They do your windshields if you ask or are a good looking woman.

This is one way to make a hybrid or electric vehicle competitive, but not the way most of us prefer.

Sounds sad, but in July 2008 the NATIONAL (not just CA) average was 4.11. Where I live 3.65 is about average now. I hope things get better out west.

A 330HP 50 MPG would be a real nice Camaro to have. It CAN be done.

the chevron refinery caught fire the other day. Supposedly there is a shortage, but i dont buy it. if there was a shortage, why is there plenty of gas to sell for nearly 5 bucks a gallon?

what a sham.

This is the last gas vehicle i buy. next is going to be electric most likely.

It is horrible, like Cali needs this to boot, they have enough problems. I did see on gas station where it was $4.11 a gallon, then realized the place was shut down, they couldn't afford the next shipment of gas.

And yes to nightowl, yeah, none around, but for $5-6 a gallon, they find some. Is it worth the bother to go south to MX? Last time I did that, I plugged up my fuel fillter as PEMEX doesn't have the cleanest gas, lots of fiber in their fuel!

Not to worry, Ruby...lol...It puts a crimp in most budgets, but the prospects of gas prices coming down are pretty slim.....We get every excuse/explanation in the book why ours is always higher...Unfortunately, any little drop is always short lived....Only a few plants here in the state make the fuel we are allowed to use...They are maxed out and any little hic-cup is a problem...

There is plenty of gas available to us...It's the "winter-blend" (already in storage), but legally can't be distributed for a few more weeks...We're used to it...always something...lol

It's going to reach $6 per gallon by the end of next week at this rate. I hope the winter brings those prices down a bit.

I'm still driving my gas hogs, no hybrid rice burners for this diehard gas V8 fan.
