Water Spots...

Hello all:

I love this forum, but finding an old thread can be tough. I know there is a cleaning/waxing forum page section, but finding what you need ..........

Well, my Imperial Blue Metallic, (IBM) Camaro seems to be severely afflicted with water spots that just won't go away, easily. Just moved to a new place so it may be the water, but in any case, if there is some type of liquid polish that is quick and easy, my life would then be complete.

Thanks.

clay and remember to wax right after or use a sealant to prevent those pesky water spots!

Wash with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water.
Then stay away from sprinklers.

Start with clay or vinegar and water, if that doesn't work you have water etching which is going to be nigh impossible to remove by hand. If that happens, look into getting a machine polishing kit which will not only remove water spots but swirls and scratches you may have in your paint.

Happened to me three weeks ago. Ended up doing a two and three stage correction on the entire car. May want to look into something like Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover.

My IBM seems hyper-affected by this too.

I find that Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax removes 95% of them. Some of them I do need to get a terrycloth bonnet and hand-buff off using a swirl remover and gentle manual buffing though

Meguiar's ultimate compound and a cloth work pretty good too.

I use Ammonia free glass cleaner and a micro fiber towel and they come right off without scratching anything, then I follow up with the machine then sealant.

Use a micro fiber towel to dry right after washing and you shouldn't have water spots. A good detail spray and micro fiber should take most off.

I am from Oregon and know how much it rains and makes spots if there is any dust on the car. Usually this time of year it doesn't stop raining long enough to let spots form.

I have a couple boxes full of Adam's products if I could just get a couple days off work and good weather at the same time to wash, clay, seal, glaze and wax, then admire the shine!

My buddy owns a boat shop and he gave me 2 bottles of this stuff called "Hot Sauce" the other day. It's a water spot remover, detail spray and sealer all in one. Works fantastic!
Smells like vinegar, but it takes off spots and leaves a great shine.

CG Hybrid V7 Detail/sealant does the same thing, for less $$, is designed for vehicle paint, and smells like tangerines.

It will take off light water spots the same as any other detail spray, but will do nothing for the stubborn ones that are being discussed in this thread. I'm guessing that "Hot Sauce" stuff has some vinegar in it, which is what would help with stubborn water spots.
