Smile Thoughts on hex vents

Considering on getting these. But I have a few questions. Has anyone DIY'd these? If so how was it? Also should these come before a vmax throttle body, and mrt v2 exhaust upgrade buying everything brand new? If I get a used deal on any of these of course I will snatch them up
Also how are the vents. Do they cool very well? And how many of you run them with the splash trays off in the rain? And how many run them with the trays on all of the time?

Hey - haven't done it myself but here is the link for the install video. Doesn't look too bad but would be nervous about cutting into my hood like this

The you tube video and instructions they come with will tell you everything you need to know to confidently(Loose term seeing you are cutting into a perfectly good hood) install these yourself. Make sure you have the right tools and you are good to go.

If you can wait, have them done at the Fest in May. Maybe someone could chime in the vendor that has been at Indy the last two years. I would think he will be there again as he was one busy SOB all weekend!

The HexVents are great! I had mine done at the Fest and got to help with the install. It is very straight forward. The install is very straightforward. I really like mine. Good luck with them.

It's good. Quicker throttle response. That really is about it. Helps for downshifting blipping the throttle.

HAHA i said the same thing when i installed my TL1 hood insert. ended up measuring like 6 times! haha

but right before i took the cutting wheel to it i had some SERIOUS second thoughts. but it all works out in the end.

i know its not the same as the Hex vents but the idea of cutting your hood is still there. so measure as many times as you feel is necessary because you only get once shot to cut it.

No DIY needed! The video and instructions are spot on and very clear! It made the decision to drill and cut a lot easier for me!

It's easier to measure and cut one big hole than it is it cut two smaller ones and get them exactly even and the same size...

What did yours end up looking like? And what are the function of yours besides engine cooling?

I slightly agree. I think the thing that would make them harder is getting them perfectly lined up with the cowl line.

Hmmm I've been considering that for my next mod.
