Yes, really want to know the answer to this myself.

At least for the PDIM, I'm sure it will be USB. I'm doubtful that we'll be able to update other modules/components unless GM were to produce/sell some sort of updater that hooks up to the OBD port (about a .001% chance of that coming to fruition). I know they're planning lots of stuff for the Volt though.

Hi Codeman:

Nice idea, that's for the opportunity to provide feedback.

A few random thoughts: I'd like access to the latest/greatest wiring diagrams if it were possible. How about a master list of OBD codes linked to a "more info." page for each code that provided some tech. details useful for troubleshooting. And while I am wishing, how about vehicle specific instructions for removing access panels and trim with cool pictures such that only GM could supply :-).

Yeah that's right. At least to start it will only be radio type functions or possibly some connected electronics related to the radio. But it'll most likely come in the form of a download to a USB stick and then plugging it into your vehicle to update the software. More info to come as we get this thing developed.

This is so cool. Thank you Codeman for any and all input you had to get this feature. I know you don't have any time specifics, but ball-parking it, do you think we will see this in the next couple of months? Thanks again.

Codeman71.

How about an iphone/ipod application that would make any updates needed for the car or serve as a diagnostic reader we can use?

I love the idea.
However how do we get this to carry any weight at a dealership if we have problems. Had a service manager get in my face telling me that the information i got from this forum and from GM was incorrect and the problems i was having was related to my device and that there was no problem with the car, and there were no updates.

Sorry for that rant.

I really love the idea and being heavily involved in computers, music, and mp3 devices, I think that this is a great step for the auto industry, If beta testers are needed I am very interested.

I have this concern as well. How would we get the service people to believe that we got the "updates" from an official GM website without having to shout in their face, "Look you effin prick, I got this from an official GM website!!!!!" Maybe the only other option is to take my good friend Christian Bale to help me out...
