Wheel widening questions
Wheel experts, your expertise is needed.
I've decided that I want to widen the stock wheels. I've found a couple of companies that offer this service, but I don't know what I'm getting into. I understand the addition to the rim is on the backside and I'm not sure how this will affect the offset. Can I just widen the rim and drop a bigger tire on it and be done? What problems am I looking at by widening the stock rim?

Doesn't change offset. Most of us widen the fronts and use a spacer for them on the rear. Then we move the rears to the front. Or you can widen the rears and leave the fronts but that's a hell of a staggered fitment.

I'm sorry, but widening your wheels will absolutely change the offset of the wheel.

OK, it changes the offset. More to the point of the question it doesn't make them fit. If you run the fronts and widen them you need a spacer. I know because this is the exact setup I have.

So it does change, but not to the point where a wider tire won't fit?
