My first burnout (a short story).
I didn't want to do it, after all I only have a few hundred miles on the odometer so far. But what could I do, I found myself at the end of a small industrial park in a lot with beautiful pavement, not too new not too old. I figured, what the heck just a short one without too much power.
I brought the rpm's up to 26 - 2700 rpm's. Wait, turn off the traction control. Okay, start again, this all happens in quick succession, no clutch abuse. Up come the revs around 2700, let the clutch out til the driveline slack is gone and the car is just beginning to roll forward, I release the clutch quickly and the tires immediately break loose. I feather the throttle to bring the revs backup to around 3500 rpm's and the tires are spinnnnnnnning good! The back end of the car moves ever so slightly to the left but a slight adjustment of the steering wheel has her pulling straight ahead. It is smooth as silk, not a hint of wheel hop, just sweet spinning tires. I check the rear view mirror to see a nice cloud of tire smoke, not too heavy but a nice white haze hanging in the air. The sound of the engine is like nothing I have ever heard before as the tires begin to grip and the engine load increases. Okay, go easy. I ease off the throttle and coast to the entrance of the lot where I had entered, my heart and adrenaline really pumping. The whole thing lasted maybe 3 or 4 seconds. I put down about 30 feet of black stripes in that lot and the engine never went past 3500 rpm's. It was very exciting and I have a whole new respect for this car. Drive safely everyone!

my first one was outside the beer dist where the cart getter guy told me to do one and i said the tires were too expensive.. got in my car and left a nice 100' swirly burnout up the parking lot (it was really late like 950 and the close at 10 and only one other car in the parking lot about 3 rows over)
its nice seeing the burnout every time i go to get a case..

How do I do this with an automatic? I have had a couple real short burns at a stop sign. My car has only 600 miles on it so it's still 'wakin up'. I just want to lay some rubber down in front of my house to mark it's place.

That's how I did it with low miles on it. It will be different after break in and an oil change, but I can't make a habit of it with that expensive rubber!

I learned that those black marks dont "wash" away on concrete.. Behind the shop at work.. Catch hell for it daily now, but everyone knows it will do it!! After about 4 or 5 100+ footers the tires really go away quick.. I just dont understand it..

Step on the brake with your left foot. Press the traction controlbar once to shut it off. Bring the revs up to 1500 and in one motion release the brake and pin the gas. The car will start stepping a little sideways and can be controlled with the steering wheel. You will be able to see your $460.00 apiece P-zeros go up in smoke! At the dragstrip I was able to smoke-em through first and halway through second. Of course that run did not have the best ET of the night.
