I never never ever even considered the V6 as optional. Its a muscle car. What the heck were ya thinking.

Again... it's not "cheaping out". Sometimes v6 owners buy the v6 because it's the car they want. Why is that so hard to understand?

Some people just want to have a cool looking car for a daily driver and the Camaro V6 trim is perfect for that. Others get the V6 because while they can as easily afford the V8, they just can't justify needing the extra ponies. Win Win situation no matter what.

I agree, the Camaro's V6 is one hell of an engine, one of the most impressive 6's out right now

We just received our Aqua-blue LS. this 'stripped down' version for $24k has most of the features the SS has, Last nite cruising down I-drive in Orlando, everyone was taking pictures of our stock car. Unbelievable! We've already ordered silver rally stripes($200), lip spoiler($200), 20" wheels from Fesler(great price!). Can't wait to see the reaction we get them.

On the turnpike we were still breaking in the engine so we blasted up to 100mph+ with nooo problem. For us its a daily driver and not exactly all show-no go.

The Mustang GT's, until this year were V8 with 300HP, so buying the V6 with 304HP is nut so nutty! Did anyone question the GT buyer why he only bought the V8 with 300 HP!

Of course, the real question is why a Ford? LOL

Here we go again.... I opted for the V6 its going to be my Daily driver and with gas prices I welcome it with open arms. Personal choice for me being a single mom who with a house payment and all the other expenses in life my V6 is a perfect fit for me. No regrets for choice on ABM LT2 RS ..

I also like the V6 front better !

I bought the V6 because I did not want to pay over sticker for a V8 or Wait maybe till Nov. to order and get one.
I do like the V6 don't get me wrong.....But...
I may buy a V8 next year to get exactly what I wanted.... But If I was able to have a V8 with a V6 front I would have it !

99% of the time whenever I have 'cheaped out' as you call it, it was because I couldn't afford whatever it was I was placing into my budget. 'Cheaping out' meant I was only being fiscally responsible, and had someone knocked me for it then I would have let off a justified rage on them. You sound pretty harsh, for not knowing someone's financial situation. That being said...I got the v8.

I guess cheaping out also means I'm saving for a house, a ring and other things in life. As I stated before in this thread or similar threads, I couldn't be happier with my car and I think the majority of V6 owners are happy as well.

For those who are dissapointed in V6 performance:

Have you tried driving it differently? You do realize that since the V6 is DOHC with direct fuel injection, it is a rather high reving engine, right? You will surely miss the low end torque of older pushrod V6 engines, that's why it may feel sluggish under 2000 RPM.

So, try keeping the revs in the 3000-5000 RPM range when shifting. If you have an automatic, using the sportshift in manual mode will help with this.

You will be surprised at how broad the power band is with this engine, once you get the revs up.

Obviously, everyone with the SS has the pushrod V8 which can pull tree stumps out at 1000 RPMs, and OLD V6s (the old 3800) could have similar low end torque. But the 3.6 VVT is very different from both of those engines. You drive it like a European or Japanese sports coupe rather than an American muscle car. And you will enjoy it every bit as SS owners enjoy theirs, maybe even moreso if you like shifting and keeping it in the sweet spot.

The 3.6 is a different kind of engine designed to be driven differently than the 6.2 V8.

The only thing i cant quite understand are the guys who buy the V6 then mod the crap out of it and spend thousands to make it go quicker when they should have just bought the V8. Its the people who buy it and use it for there daily driver and leave it alone makes perfect sense thats the crowd that should be buying them imo. If performance is your thing get the V8 or you will never be happy.
