Ticking sound in engine on start-up
First thread in awhile but I've had an issue for the last few months that my dealership can't seem to replicate when I take it in. I figured having a ton of Camaro drivers in the same forum would be the best place to go.
On engine start-up, sometimes I have what sounds like a ticking sound in the passenger side of the engine. The speed of the ticks seems to follow the RPMs, as it speeds up as you first start it, then slows down once the engine settles in. Temperature doesn't seem to affect it as it has done it randomly whether hot or cold. I've spoken to the dealer about it and they've marked it on my service record, so if anything blows up related to it, they'll fix it since I brought it up and they couldn't replicate it, but I'd rather get it fixed sooner than later (warranty is up in about 12k miles), and I just can't stand knowing that something is off with my car, even if I'm not skillful enough to fix the problem myself. Anyone have anything similar? For the record, I have a 2011 2SS. Only mods are a CAI and catback exhaust. |

My guess would be DOD lifter playin up, I had same issue but I don't have those type installed anymore.

My best guess would be that you have an exhaust leak, especially because you have an aftermarket exhaust as well.
If you take a video I could confirm it in seconds. |

also, this issue is covered under your 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty.

Probably the lifters, I had that issue, had ATLPF do away with them since the dealership could not get them to tick. There was a TSB about it if I recall.
I don't think it was a major concern, just annoying, and embarrassing. |
