A good oil filter:

AC Delco PF2129
K&N Pro Series PS-7003
Mobil 1 M1C-254

Dorman 65212 magnetic oil drain plug M12x 1.75 x 15mm

And of course, Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic engine oil.

Napa Gold and Pennzoil Ultra Pure Plus. So far so good and Pennzoil does offer a warranty program if you track your services. They're very confident about their product. No I don't work for either company, I just like what I see.

Efficiency isn't everything, however. You really want to balance efficiency with flow.

Filtering to 99.9% doesn't mean much if you only get 10% of the oil flow your engine needs. JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT, not bashing anyone's choices or recommendations.

I use Purolator Pure Plus filters, but I don't go 15,000 miles on an oil change. I still change every 5k, because my miles aren't easy miles. That being said, I run Shell Rotella-T 5w40 synthetic oil.

I don't know, I put 122k on my '97 Z28 with AC Delco, no problems
I put 93k on my 2002 Cavalier with Fram extra or tough guard, Engine was fine no problems
I've put 64K on my Cobalt with Fram Extra guard or Tough guard no problems.

I guess I'm going to use AC Delco in the new Camaro because I've been spooked by all the bad words I've seen about Fram but I never had any trouble with them. Maybe I was just lucky, I drive my cars easy and change Mobil 1 every 5k at the longest.

What you are saying is that if the filter claims to be at 99.9% efficiency but it only flows 10% of the time or of the oil going through the filter ? Then we would be presuming that the filter goes into By-Pass mode the other 90% of the time.

I don't know of an oil filter that would do this. Although your heavy foot can do this to a filter,,, and I explain myself on how you foot can do this to a filter. (Filters have a bypass spring loaded to aprox 9 to 18 lbs depending on the filter design, bypass will activate every time there is a spike in oil pressure which normally is seen during cold starts or wide open throttle runs.

So if you filter claims that it is absolute efficient which oh by the way not many filters in the market can claim, but it only filters 10% of the time you better look for a different filter.

True,, but who would design an oil filter that would only flow

if you like Wix/Napa Gold, check this out:

http://www.fleetfilter.com/

I bought a case (12) for $5 each delivered. That's a savings of a couple of bucks per filter, not to mention the time and gas spent running to parts store several times.
