Supercharger or ZL1?
Which would be more fun?
Modify the crap out of my 11SS, Whipple or Maggie with a tune, headers, maybe cam....or trade for used ZL1?

I absolutely would go for the ZL1. Unfortunately, in my case, one seems to be just out of reach because of the price, no matter what angle I work.

In my case now, the ZL1 would be cheaper! I would be getting rid of my truck if I traded. I would have to get a winter beater in order to get the Z.
If I go the mod route, I'd still have the truck payment. So, I would spend more cash modding my current SS. I really like my truck, but I REALLY like the Z! The other concern would be that I have to mod just about everything I buy. Getting the Z would hopefully cure that little issue...for awhile. A few things have to fall in place for either to happen. I still have to see what the 14's look like. My wife is leaning towards the blower, so I'll have to see what happens. I'll have to talk her into driving a ZL1, and go from there.

Ask Audrey this question.....
I know if it were me, it would be a turned up Whipple. Way more fun for the buck and YOU built it. I get trading off the good for it to reduce the payment. I get that totally. If it helps reduce the financial burden and you end up with a Z, then that seems to be a win win man. Either way is awesome I'd think.... |

Real question is what do you want to do with it? If you want to cruse around and go to shows and stuff then ZL1 is definitely the way to go. If you are looking for speed the ZL1 is going to cost you way more than you think (unless you knew it would take an extra $10K +).
ZL1 is probably the best bet for you, just be carefull as there are a few local SS' that would leave a stock'ish ZL1 in the dust. Last year I know there was a ZL1 at the track and Chris (whipple charged SS) from Farmington put about 5-6 cars on him (and he is only a 12.8 car). ZL1 for style and status. Upgraded SS for speed..... You gotta pick your poison. If I had to do it again, I would probably just have a stock ZL1 and not race it.

The Z has the "cool" factor, But having a tune-able car that I don't have $75K dumped into seems more reasonable!
I'm thinking that a DIY might be the way to go.... Ivan, when are you gonna start slanging blowers? Put me in line....after I pay uncle sam this month..

I also work pretty tight with Matt Sorian over at FSP. He deals just about everything that we don't. He's got some good deals on Centri blowers right now. And them beaches can make some sick power as well. |

The ZL1 does have more bells and whistles but it does not sound like my "stockish" SS, oh yeah and it does not have the horsepower either.
