Here's another older vid. Stock NPP, Kooks headers and Cats still in place.

Asking what catback sounds best is similar to asking what everyone's favorite color is. Very subjective, with most people saying whatever they have is best.

It’s all good. Like I said, not trying to be hostile but these threads will stick around and be found by owners googling/searching for years to come and mis information effects more than the present day. This wasn’t even necessarily that bad, but there are other threads effected negatively due to the same thing.

The stock NPP exhaust is excellent in quality and feature that you won't need to go aftermarket on a catback exhaust.

For sound then that could be subjective; For function and breathing then look no further than the NPP.

I dropped my car off last week to have a 3600 torque converter and injectors installed. When I picked it up I noticed it was louder (kooks headers, no cats, npp fuze pulled) a guy who was standing behind the car when they tuned it said there was a lot of stuff coming out of the exhaust - packing? Sucker is really loud now.

Could be just carbon buildup that got knocked loose from the inside of the pipes when they removed and replaced the cat back.

As far as being louder, maybe they didn't tighten the clamps enough and you have a small leak post-header?

Finished with PFADT try-Y and Flowmaster

I went in two stages.
1. I installed the Flowmaster outlaw 3" cat-back myself on a lift. It was about two hours by myself with an oil change. The sound was considerably deeper than the stock NPP. The sound was a little louder, but not a lot.
2. A week later my shop installed the aFe PFADT long tubes. The sound was still deep and maybe about twice as loud as stock on average. When you step on the gas is when the sound really comes alive and sounds really good. Cruising speed is not very loud though, and makes me want to hold my shifts longer all the time to hear that badass sound that rumbles through those 3" pipes.

Welcome to the family Alabmabrown. We’re glad to hear that you are happy with your Outlaw Cat-back!

It’s typical on the 12 and 13 Z’s, it’s the packing, looks like steel wool. Some have replaced the exhaust more than once, mine has only been replaced once. Some just ignor it.
