This car was loaded to the gills with equipment and radios which accounted to several hundred pounds. My 94 Camaro will not suck the last couple of gallons of gas out of the tank. I have to find a fuel stop before 300 miles or I run the risk of walking. I'm curious if the O2 sensor could be bad causing your car to run rich hurting your fuel mileage.
As of now it's passing smog, so I don't think it could be that, but worth a look for sure

That's still WAY below the 26mpg that was listed on the window sticker under hwy mileage in 2002... Best lead so far is that when I cleaned my K&N recently, I went a little heavy on the oil. This dirtied my MAF sensor, and now the sending unit is workin overtime for no reason... SO gonna get a can of carb cleaner and try to blow all that K&N oil out of the MAF and see how she does.

All I know is that my '96 Z28 GOT about 26/27 mpgs highway, and this one is rated for higher than that car was, which makes me
that can easily cause your maf to read incorrectly and cause un-needed fuel to be added during normal driving. get a can of MAF cleaner (not carb cleaner) pull your maf out. spray it down from both sides and let it sit in a clean dry area for 20-30 minutes. pop it back in and go to town.

also, you mentioned the gearing. depending on if the gears are stock or not could be another thing to look at. as well as the fact that the mileage estimates for that car were made doing 55mph. so doing 75mph might not be an equal comparison. only way to truly test that estimate would be to drive to barksdale and back again at 55mph and see what your mileage is.

def clean the MAF and maybe even do the seafoam treatment

I get around 18-20 mixed, probably about 60/40 split in favor of highway driving, and I deff don't drive 55. So you should at least be able to match that.

Now if you went 55 I wouldnt be suprised to see somewhere near 30.

I even checked the tire pressure. Anything you guys can tell me would be appreciated
So you topped off the tank before you hit the road... and you ran the tank BONE DRY and pushed it the final few feet up to the gas pump?

Hit the "E". Dried out a fuel pump once, now I know better than to run it completely out...

just remember that the sending units on these cars arent completely reliable over time. I fill up around every 100 miles in my 94Z.... then again, I get about 10-15mpg consistently.... but she also spends most time on the track, so I can live with that.

Like everyone said, the only way to guage it accuratley is to fill up, reset the trip meter, next fill up divide the miles on the trip meter by how many gallons it took to fill it back up. You arent gonna get close guesstimating.

@ 85mph a 3.23 geared A4 sits at ~2500rpm... my 3.42 geared M6 sits at 1800rpm. Bringing the speed down will help your mileage big time. Make sure your filter is always clean and drive with a soft foot keeping steady speeds less than 65mph and you should hit 26 (as claimed). My old LT1 3.23 geared auto did 25mpg average from Des Moines to Fort Campbell (100%) interstate travel @ 65mph) so I don't see any good reason why you would have any issues hitting that number.
